Is that you again Machan? Is that you Puhul Hora? And you are calling someone writing hiding under names? Isn't that a case of Pot calling kettle? Mmmmmm. Good try. Better luck next time.
Obviously Aselas 84 was the best, that won us the series.
I also feel Indain businessman wants players from England, Australia, New Zealand South Africa more than others as a symbol of their prestige. That may be another reason. Also I feel that the Indians do not want SL youngsters get the benefit from the IPL franchises. Many foreign cricketers improved their game a lot thanks to the IPL such as Malinga, Dilshan, Steve Smith, Warner etc.
Chandimal is better as a keeper-batsman. But Prasanna is probably the best keeper who played for SL in last 20 years. So, Chandimal has a long way to go if he wants to become as good as Prasanna behind the stumps.
I dont think Jayasundera is in a good enough form at the moment. He didnt perform against England lion in his first innings and his second was a very slow 60 odd runs. I think a better option would be Sadeera Samarawickrama. He has performed extremely well in club cricket and as been promoted to the A team recently. Other than that your squad is great. I hope the real squad will be similar.
I hope the umpire had the decency to apologize to Dickwella. I remember Umpire Rudy Kurtzen doing so when he gave Sangakkara caught off the shoulder at 192 against Australia, preventing Sangakkara a well deserved double hundred. Sangakkara was in full flight at that time.
Sri Lanka Test Squad against Bangladesh
1. U Tharanga
2. R Chandraguptha
3. K Mendis
4. A Gunaratne
5. A Mathews (c)
6. D de Silva
7. D Chandimal (wk)
8. MDK Perera
9. R Herath
10. S Lakmal
11. N Pradeep
12. L Kumara
13. L Sandakan
14. PM Pushpakumara
15. N Dickwella
16. L Milantha
17. MDUS Jayasundera
D Chandimal and D de Silva will be given final chance in the first test against Bangladesh. If they fail to perform, they need to be dropped. We need to give few chances to Tharanga to open the innings and wait and see how he will be performing.
I hope Mathews returns for all matches against Bangladesh and that Dickwella and Tharanga has a chance to play in the test matches.
Little worried ablut Upul Tharanga's recent innings. He did good against the PMXI match, but hasnt performed in the proper series. I think it may be best for Tharanga to focus on ODI and Test (if he is selected) and have Dickwella and Munaweera open for T20s. Unfortunate for Gunaratne and Shanaka for not making starts but Shanaka bowled very, especially the last over. We may have to look for a new number 3 spot or promote either Kapu, Milinda, Shanaka or Gunaratne to number 3, because I doubt Kusal Mendis will be returning to t20s anytime soon
Great series win by SL and i look forward to the Bangladesh matches.
#12,Annoynmus Proteus you are still alive and kicking? So you are been out for a while and now they let the dog out? We do miss that two faced koreyawa man who writes under various names promoting peace under one name and next coming out with racial undertones claiming his religion is superior than others. So you are pointing finger at someone when you are the worst culprit who writes under various names. So when did they let you out? When are you going back in? I can visualize you wearing your sarong around your chest surrounded by not cow dung but human excrement. It clearly shows in your writing. What do you expect from a man who lives in the gutter. I am ashamed to call myself a Buddhist when people like you bring our religion to this level. I wish you best of luck because you will be watching the game through the cage. I hope they throw the keys away. BTW I am not a Tharanga supporter or hater. I couldn't care less.P
