Sri Lanka's Tillakaratne Dilshan, who is currently in Australia playing in the Big Bash League (BBL), missed Saturday's clash between Hobart Hurricanes and Sydney Thunder after failing a fitness test.

A report on the BBL website stated that the Thunder's Sri Lankan import had an issue with his back, but failed to elaborate on the injury.

"He is hopeful of being fit for the Thunder's match against the Renegades in Melbourne on Tuesday," the report stated.

The Thunder have two Sri Lankan in their ranks for this year's edition of Australia's premier domestic T20 competition, while their coach Chandika Hathurusinha also hails from Sri Lanka.

Mystery spinner Ajantha Mendis, who has thus far played two matches in the tournament, was the Thunder's other Sri Lankan signing.

The Thunder will play the Renegades in their next match, which takes place on January 14 in Melbourne.
