That's y people called CHANDIMAL innings as SELFISH INNINGS HE SCORES TO STAY IN THE TEAM BY BATTING SLOWLY, he doesn't take match situations into account that's y he is not suited to play international level... even after scoring hundred he cannot hit seven runs win a match against a upcoming under 19 fast bowler shows his experience has got no value and this shows that CHANDIMAL CANNOT WIN A GAME EVEN IN DOMESTIC MATCHES against good domestic bowlers ,so how can he win against international bowlers???

Hahahaaaaa biggest joke of the century..It was 112 for 6 and Chandimal took the game to last ball, last 2 overs 25+ required and they managed to trimmed down to 7 runs for last over..Then they lost one wicket in last over and Chandimal was not able to finish the match as not enough balls left for him

Dude Chandimal may not be the perfect finisher but he can bring the match alive from a losing cause..Yes he need to work on finishing the matches and lift up his strike rate, no big deal but additional 5 to 10 runs per 100 balls will keep him among the players like Smith,Root, Williamson (SR wise)

Square cut's picture

@cricexp. He has never brought any match alive ,infact if Sri Lanka loses two early wickets Chandimal plays like as if the match is lost by scoring selfish runs without looking at the strike rates which puts pressure on the other batsman who r trying to win and they have to play catch up game because of Chandimal S slow innings and finally they have to sacrifice their innings due to lack of commitment from Chandimal .thats y his fifties r useless in the context of the match, Chandimal plays like school boy cricketer even after 6 plus years of international cricket as he don't understand match situation where as people like Mahela and sanga play for match situation without thinking too much about their place in the team,

Please stop making comparisons with Williamson ,smith and kholi to Chandimal,it's the biggest joke , they are class players who averages over fifty in both odi and test ,moreover there strike rate is over 90 in ODI CRICKET. where as Chandimal plays cricket pre-2005 with a low strike rate of 75.

Chandimak ODI RECORD IS THE WORST AMONG ALL THE PLAYERS WHO HAVE PLAYED MIRE THAN 100 matches it means Chandimal has played the most no of matches to get the lOWEST no of MAN OF THE MAN AWARDS IN THE WORLD. Even his consistency is very low as he averages a 33 ish in ODI even after playing slowly at his pace and you know what his great t20 record is .

Even Most ODI players strike rates are over 100 while the master blaster Chandimal strike rate even in t20s is just touching 100 with a average of 18 which is less than Most allrounders and even below most bowlers and some people like u made him the t20 captain while he can't get the ball of the square .lol..he has lost many matches for Sri Lanka due to his self centred innings and he is a very sloppy wicket keeper too plus he is annoying behind the wicket for bowlers as he gives them the wrong advice on matters like drs .

Yes I agree when he came to the international team scene that he was really good but he lost his way now for the last five years, I hope he goes back to the drawing board and come back as strong as he was before. If we allow him to play further odi S for Sri Lanka he will not only have mediocre career but will also spoil Sri Lankas chance of winning. He needs to improve his power game and I m not sure what ford is doing as a coach as he has not corrected Chandimal technique as he stills slogs across the line like a mad man when he wants a boundary and gets out. hope he gets better but not at international level let him work it out at domestic level .

Until then Sri Lanka has to give chances to sadeera at no 4 spot as he looks a great prospect.

Dude, I agree he should not play T20s, he should never had played T20s, but for ODI he should work on his game and he should be in the team till end of this year and then assess his game and take corrective actions, he slow down the game and other what not is express your lack of knowledge and when you say Willimson, Root,Kholi SR above 90 it's a big lie, all of them SR is below 90 and players like Willimson,Root have below 85 SR. Chandimal SR is 76 yes I accept its not up to the modern game but do you think lack of that 8 runs per 100 balls cost us matches? LOL, what happened was the matches we were anyway going to lose and only Chandimal performed up to some extend during those matches. Even if he scored 90+ SR during those matches we still would have lost them, that's nt because of him but because others didn't perform up to the expectations, if SL can score 70 runs in first 10 and 120 in last 15 then we only need another 120+ score during middle 25 overs to get passed 310+ total and that has been our game plan for more than 20 years, we always had Sanga Mahela in the middle but we still won matches, when Sanga Mahela played we had 3 power players and lots of 400+ scores took place around the world during that era, but with Sanga and Mahela SR of 75 we were able to win matches.

So you are a Sadeera fan eh? Its too early to judge him and let him play more first class cricket before make any judgments, his list A AVG still 27.

Don't be stupid .chandimal scores at strike rate of 75 while averaging 18 runs less than kholi ,root ,Williamson and smith. dont compare CHANDIMAL to the players, these players can play big shots when needed unlike CHANDIMAL that's y THE are successful in t20s.

Other stupid thing is that Mahela and sanga played in a different era to CHANDIMAL where there strike rate has been over 90 since 2011 and I think ur CHANDIMAL fan that's y u don't understand the difference between modern cricket And cricket before t20s. Do u know what our big hitter sanath jayasuriya strike was ONLY 89 but that was great during that era . But to get a strike if 89 today batsman hardly has to sweat or play big shots .

EVEN PLAYERS LIKE MAHMUDULAH HAS A BEETER AVERAGE AND STRIKE RATE THEN THIS OVERATED CHANDIMAL.

Wait till the provincial tournament finishes,I m sure he will not be even in top 5 run getters list , he is far too inconsistent for his low average and strike rate. PLAYERS LIKE CHANDIMAL SHOULD ONLY PKAY TESTS,

Your are so stupid to say that getting 8 RUNS MORE WILL NOT MATTER. That could be difference between winning and losing . Let's think if we have 3 players like CHANDIMAL each faces 100 balls and scores 75 ,so what will be the score ...( 75x3= 225 runs) .. IT WILL BE ONLY 225 runs and that's too low a score these days

CHANDIMAL SCORES TOO SLOWLY AND PUTS PRESSURE ON OTHERS PLAYERS AND EVENTUALLY THE PLAYERS GETS OUT TRYING INCREASE THE SCORING RATE .IF THE PLAY THE SAME WAY AS CHANDIMAL THEY WILL ONLY GET 225 runs for 50 overs .IS THIS ENOUGH NOWADAYS???? NOOOO!!!!

That's how CHANDIMAL scores his runs while on same match others would not have scored. This shows his selfishness to stay in the team.

CHANDIMAL IS THE WORST ODI PLAYER SRI LANKA HAS PRODUCED AFTER HASHAN TILEKERATNE.

Dude the game plan should be to score 70 runs in first 10 overs and 120 runs in last 15 overs and score just 125 in middle 25 overs.. Chandimal job is to play the middle overs and handover the job to hard hitters after 35 overs..You need to have more wickets to score attacking cricket in last 15 overs. So Chandimal and Mendis should carry the inning to late 30s without collapsing and exposed the middle order.

Just forget Chandimal can you name who has been successful in last 2 years?
