Here we go again!

One of the few things we can be proud being Sri Lankan is our cricket! The brand we play in limited overs cricket.Yet in Test match cricket, where the true quality of a team is measured, we belong to the second tier group. Forgetting this hard truth, basked in limited overs victories..

Fair point this but can I say blaming IPL is not the correct. Aus and SA also play IPL but at test level, they play a different game. Fair to say SL didnt even rock up to the test games in Aus but in one day cricket, gave the Aussies a run. Dont forget a lot of these Aussie players also play IPL so what is the issue for SL and test.

I think the club based diluted first class cricket is a major contibutor. Aus has a similar population to SL but have only 6 first class teams (state based). SA have double the population and still only have 6 or 8 (provinsial based) first class teams. Needless to say the standard of cricket it at a different level and it shows at international level.

Some would argue English first class cricket has several teams but then English cricket is different. Firstly it's professional and next, the local clubs include importated players who add value in terms of competitiveness so its actually at a different level.

SL seems to have go the wrong end of the stick which is no surprise when the administrators tasked with nuturing the game are doing alot of things (looting, politicising, favoring ETC) other than nuturing the game.
