Lankan cricket needs a psychologist

Chairman of Selectors Asantha de Mel has been in the cauldron of what cricket is all about and who has enough experience as a selector knows the trauma that a cricketer or a team goes through in a tournament or in a final and has quite rightly suggested that Sri Lanka Cricket employ a psychologist.

Elmo should write about the real problems. The team is fine. We lost just one T20 match (the final) but did remarkably well to get there!

The real problem is the cricket board! With one foot in the grave, it's time to stop licking boots, Mr. Rodrigopulle. Please start writing about how well we will do if we paid our cricketers on time and we had solid administrators backing them.

Ashantha de Mel should not have even been allowed to come back as selector. He is doing a great disservice to our cricket and nation. He is a lazy selector who does not even watch domestic games and has no clue about our talent!

I am afraid this article is nothng short of shoddy journalism! What is this guy talking about - one would imagine SL were knocked out the in first round. If SL need a psycologist after reaching the finals what does SA need - a miracle man? How about India - a weather god? Please lets accept the dissappointment of the loss but reaching finals is never a problem.

The writer is missing the elephant in the room - the administrators. That lot needs to be chased out and a competent team given the task. The fact that SL made the finals dispite the never ending administration blunders is an achievement on its own.

First pay them good, then see the difference. Salary is more than a psychologist.
