The 'curtain is set to come down' on Perera's career - report

"The inclusion of Thisara Perera into the Sri Lanka squad has been hotly debated both at Maitland Place and Reid Avenue and, unless he shows drastic improvement, application and commitment, the curtain is set to come down on his largely unfulfilled career," writes Rex Clementine.

a player with immense potential under performing regularly means that sadly the fans has to suspect he is under the radar of the M.F MAFIA and a fielder taking blinders in the deep in the past and named as ''a man with hands like buckets'' by reputed commentators dropping sitters is questionable. That means if he is getting selected over over and again may be the selectors are also under the same radar as well.

he was a match winner and a player who brought luck to Sri Lanka, but now Dasun Shanak should replace him.

100+ ODI games with little to no growth, improvement, or consistency. Well past time for them to stop selecting him.

No idea why he was brought into the squad to begin with since he hasn't exactly been in form in any matches or tournaments played this year.

Thisara bats in the lower order and doesn't play as a pure batsman (he is an allrounder) so it's useless trying to talk about his batting stats. He is a power hitter and intelligent teams know how to use him. Sri Lankans want to kick out guys with experience.

Thisara should have been 'put to grass' sometime back, but definitely after his pathetic display at the last Champions Trophy tournament. Why he was brought back for this series baffles everyone except the selectors. Time to move on without Thisara and if possible please send Malinga, Kapugedera and Tharanga with him and start building a new team.
