Sri Lanka prices out poorer fans

Good article from Wall Street Journal. What Mahinda Rajpaksa's SLC is doing now is killing our game!

"The end result of all this is that most Sri Lankan fans can no longer watch their own team play at home. If nothing else, pricing them out to make a short-term buck so you can pay off the debts you recklessly ran up for no good reason doesn't create the best impression.

Yes, this is business, but it's a business highly dependent on the goodwill of its customers. Sri Lanka scored a superb victory in the recent match at Galle, featuring a characteristically classy first innings of 180 from captain Mahela Jayawardene and 12 wickets from canny left-arm spinner Rangana Herath. The real shame is that so few Sri Lankans got to see it.

It's easy to imagine that many will think twice about coming back. You really can't hope to create the next generation of fans of a country's national cricket team if none of them can afford to get into the ground to see it play."
