Three Aiyas and a Boru Captain

Puppetry is dying in Sri Lanka due to the rise of television. But, the cricket team may help revive it.The 26-year-old Angelo Mathews is a captain only in name. The team is controlled by the old firm of Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara, who are aged 36 and 35.The two veterans whisper field...

SL has no chance in d 2015 WC. Thats too obvious at this point. And it seems that the only replacement SL has fo dilshan is Tharanga. fo d sake of SL cricket cant they try out some 1 els? i was very happy wen dilshan was out of d WI tour. i thought we could c a new face replacing him. That bubble didnt last long. A bankrupt board dancing to d tune of the BCCI, A loosing team with Mercenaries ready to drop any national duty at a heartbeat fo IPL money. No replacements fo any of d Aging players. The pathetic reality of SL cricket!

@Neo: No mate, I think Sri lanka has a great chance to win the 2015 WC. We have done extremley well in Australia in the last 4 years. That is, without any of the 3 big guns contributing too much. Players like Nuwan, Lasith, Thisara, Angelo, Chandimal and Thirimanne have really good records in Australia. I really doubt if Mahela and Dilshan will play in the 2015 WC, they are getting older and Mahela is looking a little unfit now. However if the WC was held elsewhere like England or even in the Subcontinent, we will have no chance (No good spinners), but for some reason our new and younger players are lethal in Australian conditions.

@Neo i'm not good in stats .. but i think SL has the best winning record in Oz right? so i think 2015WC not out of our sight .. just need to find some good bowlers , then the team will be balanced

regrading mahela ,sanga & other senior players .. no need to drop them , they always get injured :P anyways this small island don't have a large pool of backup players like other countries have , so we have to be patient with what we have . no need to get panicked . 2015WC is still a long long way to go.

Tiru's biggest point here is the seniors blocking test cricket for their own advancement. When ever they talk its all about test cricket but what they really want is money, ipl and any kind of cricket that generates revenue for them. Greats they are as cricketers but hypocrites when it comes to country, and, yes, puppets they are too, under the clout of BCCI and their money. Today, the main reason the young generation looks ordinary is due to the lack of Test cricket and club cricket, the fundamental foundation for good cricket, any format. The top three or four are not going to change, cause their careers are near ending and they will do everything to earn as much they can for the remaining years. However, the youngsters can change things, putting country before anything, and, they should begin doing that right now, starting West Indies, no matter how complicated the dressing room might get.

There is more than a grain of truth in this largely slanderous article.

The "Boru Show" is having a huge detrimental effect in our long term cricket both on and off the field. These are the standards and ethics that will be carried into the future.

Then again it is simply a copy of what is going on in the entire Country. The pity was that sport was spared these theatrics until now.

SPORT, the only hope for Lanka is also corrupted !

what happen to Young all-rounders like Anjelo Perera, Milinda Siriwardane, Sachith Pathirana. They (selectors) always go to Jeewan Mendis.. I cnt imagine he is a batting or bowling all-rounder...
Then SL-A tour to WI give a go to Rambukwella. Instead of Yashoda Lanka. (SLAF player who hit 800+ runs in this yr first class 3rd highest run getter. Ammased 40+ 6s n 50+ 4s) bt mr.Jayasuriya said Rambukwella can hit sixes... Bad politics..

Uppercut_7 is right. This is a joke. Nothing to do with cricket. Funny....Article clearly shows whose puppet the writer is; isn't it?

Sadly, The entire game of cricket is becoming somewhat of a joke now. Rules are changed as often as my pyjamas, BCCI(cc) Which actually stands for Board FOR Controlling cricket & ICC has its way in ever aspect of the game now, and Sri Lanka Cricket is on its last straw. We are playing 2 test matches in the next 2 years so basically the future is bleak! All we do is roll over and play dead to BCCI.

Having said all that the love i have for the game will make me follow every SL Match BUT now i look forward more to series like the ashes or a good SA-Eng series rather than our own.
