To be honest, I wouldn't pick either of them myself.. But in my opinion, Kaushal is the better of the two.. on recent form and temperament at least...
I don't think either should have been dropped on the basis of a SA tour which is a tough place for an opener and where most of the SL batting failed.
@stormy definitely not on basis of SA tour... But on basis of there being better options waiting to be tried.. We got to admit that our opening pair have been one of the most unsuccessful pair the past 2 years or so.. Dimuth should never have been selected for the SA tour.. Or even this one.. Just scraped through courtesy of a A team 200.. That's the way he has survived in the team for ages, by big scores in the nick of time.. Wouldn't be surprised if he got a century next innings.. I have no personal dislike against him, but i think we should try new options up front.. specially dananjaya de silva..
to be honest i dont want both of them to be in the team. but dimuth was mainly picked from his 200 in the match before the tour. i understand that they had a tough time in SA but they have been in the team for a long time now and so we expected much better from them. When mathews returns i think that dimuth karunaratne will be dropped and possibly Niroshan Dickwella will open with Tharanga. Not sure how well he will perform but i think its good to have an aggressive opener, the same way AUS has david warner. Mathews will probably bat at 5 and Asela at 6.
