Was it wrong to change the batting order in the 2nd T20 against Ban?

I can't help but wonder what would have happened if we kept the same batting line up in the 2nd t20 as the 1st t20. KJP batted well with Tharanga and they made a good opening partnership in the 1st T20, there was no reason to change it.

Tharanga should never be in the T20 team. Enough said.

what I think happened yesterday is that the management knows that they cannot keep Dickwella and KJP from opening in future but also didn't want to leave UT out, so they tried to push UT one down and let Munaweera open with KJP, so when Dickwella is fit he can open with KJP and UT can continue at one down. But it backfired. Never change a winning combination though.

In reality I think the correct two opened and Tharanga should not play t20 but apparently this is not a possibility. This is not Tharanga bashing but a run a ball 20 is not what you are looking for in the power play overs a t20 and we all know this, all except the selectors.

The other thing was it showed SL thought it was a tight total and the batting showed that. Aimlessly swinging to be overly aggressive and the game was over in the first 5 overs.

Open batting with Kusal & Munaweera itself put an unnecessary pressure on the players. The target was just 177, not a 200+ total. They changed the open batting combination like we have to chase 200+ total.

Total somewhere around 50 runs without loosing a wicket in the power play would have been more than enough to chase 177. Problem was SL batsmen played like they had to score 100 runs in the power play.

Gentlemen, I respect all your opinions. But, I think the match was handed over to Bangladesh in order for Mortaza to have nice sendoff and to make BCB and fans happy. Sometimes, This is how "Business of Cricket" is conducted.

I believe our team is OK now. So, why worry? The loss was a friendly gesture towards one of our friendly neighbors.

I feel sorry for our fans who painted their faces, cheered from the top of their voices and waved the cell phones. I am sure they enjoyed. But, without their knowledge, they were presented with a DRAMA, beautifully orchestrated by the "big shots" of SLC.

Think about how Kusal, Tharanga and Thisara got out. May be Sumathipala is making sure that he gets support from BCB when he runs for the ICC top post. I do not say he is good or bad. what I say is that he is a very smart man. Sumathipala is a business man not a cricketer.

Finally, I repeat that our team is good now. So, folks be happy!

If making only a slight change causes a loss, then something is clearly wrong with the team. Im unsure on what the future openers will be for T20. I dont think Tharanga will last long in T20s. When Mathews returns to be captain Tharanga may lose his place. At the moment i think we should open with Dickwella and Kusal Perera. I think Munaweera should be given another chance at number three but if it doesnt work out i would like Gunaratne to try the number 3 spot. We need someone to hold an innings together and Gunaratne fits the role well.

Niroshan Dickwella
Kusal Perera
Dilshan Munaweera
Asela Gunaratne
Angelo Mathews
Thisara Perera
Seekuge Prassana
Nuwan Kulasekera
Vikum Sanjaya
Lasith Malinga
Lakshan Sandakan

Reality is something most of you guys miss. TThe reality is that when Tharanga opens we put on a 50+ opening partnership without a collapse. Dont take the stability he has brought for granted. This is a XI that was getting bowled out for peanuts not long ago and that's why Tharanga was brought back to open.

Nah.. Doesn't matter much.. Just was a bad day.. Munaweera opening wasn't a very bad idea, as he's a natural opener and is good at maximizing the powerplay.. It just backfired..But tharanga is the issue.. If he's in the team, he should be an opener... Otherwise pointless.. id personally go with danushka and kjp opening , dickwella @3... Tharanga misses out..
