Kumara is looking good. Hope Lakmal continue with his new found rhythm. This two can make potential opening attack. This could happen only if Mathews give up his desire to open the bowling.
Secondly need to have some rotation among pacers depending on the opponent as well as the importance. South Africa rested most of first line player for T20s. I would be really surprised if our selectors do the same rather than naming old lot like Kule.. Seeku... Dilruwan. Chameera can be rest for the 3rd test as well because series already decided. Give the chance to new comer so that we can build new set of pacers.

don't forget dhammika prasad !!. lakmal is good with the new ball.... so is dhammika ... awesome if he gets back to his best soon... Suddenly fast bowling prospects don't seem too bad!! Waiting for chameera to get his pace back and bowl 145+...

As long as Mathews doesn't take the new ball, I'm happy. And with Pradeep a possible injury concern (in case he gets injured mid-match), we may have to bench him for the third test. In which case, who would take the new ball? Would be interesting but knowing Mathews, it'll be Lakmal (good) and himself (bad).

I am more happy as long as Mathews doesn't bowl longer spells. He is not a leading bowler al all.But he can play the holding role when his main bowlers get tired. If he gets a wicket, that is a bonus for the team. Prior to this series, Lakmal had been under a severe criticism as he hasn't delivered as expected. But if you closely look at his recent bowling efforts especially in Zimbabwe, he seemed to be gaining some kind of a rhythm (One would say that you can't count Zimbabwe tour but he bowled well in relative less seaming friendly flat hard decks) and it is important for him to keep that rhythm continue longer.

Pradeep has been bit disappointing so far during this tour as he didn't look threatening. In Prasad's case......actually,I don't write off him. He is no doubt a fine bowler who bowled with a lot of heart but, with his age and continuous injury issues, I think we should look for new options beyond him. Lahiru Kumara seems to have taken his chances with both hands. Look, he is still very young and generates decent pace with swing. So why wouldn't we try him as a new ball partner. I think he will be a fast learner and can be useful in challenging conditions.

I don't hesitate to bring Chameera back if he is fully fit. The reason is, we need to have a much more of a settled line up at least by now.I feel we have a settled spin attack and now we need look at our bowling and batting. If Chameera gets fully fit and bowls quickly,I think Lakmal,Kumara and Chameera can be our long term pace bowling options while we have options like Pradeep,Rajitha,Asitha,Vikum Sanjaya etc. Batting would have been settled if the batters didn't play carelessly in first two matches.
