Well I guess that answers some questions some of us had and some of had unfairly assumed. Yes there were leaders on the park but it wasnt like Malinga went from 3rd man to fine leg. As a matter of fact he positioned himself in the critical midwicket spot where he dropped Kholi (that's another debate) but the point is he was is own man.

Mahela and Sanga were the ones doing the field changes, as we saw, because they were wicketkeeper and slip fielder, as Mali explained. Those two do that even when Mathews and Chandimal captain the side!

Most of us, including me, thought that Mali was the captain just for the name but a bowler is the one who can best ask another bowler to bowl the way he wants.

Like he said after the NZ match, he brought in Herath early, which resulted in us booking a place in yet another semi-final. And I'm sure he made all the bowling changes in the other matches as well because we didn't see Mahela doing that, at least not in the last two matches - the semi and final.

This sure does clear a lot of doubts, mainly foreign media, had on Malinga's captaincy. Hope this is used in foreign media, too.

From our team, he knows the Indian batsmen best so it makes sense that he talked to each and every bowler the day before the match and told them how to bowl to each Indian batsman.

At then end of the day, Malinga is a World Cup-winning captain! :D

Haters will hate no matter what but everyone knows you are THE BEST.

And about that 'Thrikonaakara Naalikawa', well that Kotiya can suck it, who cares what they say, anyway?? :/

Thank you, Malinga! <3

Typical of the Sri Lankan cricketing environment to start a controversy of this nature and begin bickering over petty issues inspired by a few unwarrented observations bu outsiders who consider themselves cricketing pundits!

Taking some factors into consideration ~ it is fairly obvious that Dinesh Chandimal was not the captain who would have steered Sri Lanka to this wonderful win given his past performances in this capacity and maybe it was good fortune and good decision making that Sri Lanka won with Malinga at the helm and something needs to be said about the three successive wins under his captaincy. Sure Sanga, Mahela and Dilshan were seen chattering away with good intentions surely which probably paid off by advising Malinga where the classy Angelo Mathews stayed prudently away from proceedings but in the overall picture it was Malinga who delivered with of course a concerted team effort. Take nothing away from the fact that this was Lasith Malinga's victory and deservedly so. Well Done Slingah! and may you reach even greater heights~ Applause Applause!!!!!!!
