Having heard the interview , I feel Aravinda and Kumar were taken unawares of the happenings and they consented to join. Kapila was vindicated and Malinga dropped out since the Sports Minister SLC president and K and A along with Mathews had a meeting in Malingas presence. Vandersay was dropped and Tirimanne was selected and both decisions by new committee proved a failure.
It is the poor cricketers who will be suffering.

No WAY this man was not suitable to hold to hold that position that is why this man was sacked. it seems this Kapila and the man who interview him are doing this arranged discussion to sling mud at the cricket board. who ever listens to this useless interview can understand what was their ambition behind this futile time wasting discussion.

Sri lanka getting eliminated in the first round itself doesn't give credence to the fact that the former selection committee led by Mr. Wijegunawardene took all the right decisions. Even the team selected by them might not have fared any better. Persevering with Malinga, when he is chronically injured is plainly betting on a lame horse. We saw Niroshan Dickwella walking out of the crease to Ashwin and getting stumped by a mile for nought. I think that was in the Asia Cup or in the matches we played against India.

The most important thing out of this interview is that having selection panels and selectors is pointless because the SLC president, vice-president or secretary and even the sports minister ultimately are the real selectors. Selectors were sacked and changed at the behest of politicians. More people should be outraged by this. Is this what Sri Lankans want?

I think NaradaP has summed up everything the best! Well said Narada :-)

Until that ridiculous process changes nothing will! Why does the sports minister have to approve selections and appointments. What do they know about sports selections? It's no difference to common armchair critics like us here in this forum. In that case the sports minister should be a past elite athlete and represented the nation at top level in some sport!

Nations and sports bodies that have such practices in place are asking for failure and controversy more often than not.
Btw No surprise to see fellow Asian nation Pakistan in a similar mess for same reasons!

I believe that Sangakkara and Aravinda were responsible for bring in Thirimanna. I think he is good only for Tests and ODIs, not for T20s. But, KS and AS thought that Thirimanna will click in T20s. Realizing that they made a mistake, KS and AS have bolted. KS ended up in England and AS Who knows. Shame on them! None of them did not have the guts to admit the selection blunder they made. I hope one day Aravinda will say something about it in his "SINGLISH".

Mathews and his friends went to the world cup, they had a nice time out there and came home.

Why these "OFFICIALS" cry out.

Outcome could have not been any different even if we had Bradman in the selection committee.

THESE PLAYERS ARE EITHER OUT OF FORM FOR YEARS OR LACKS QUALITY IN INTERNATIONAL STAGE

Leave alone the T 20 World Cup, We also lost the Asia Cup a few weeks before, beating only UAE in the process. This team was selected by the very same committee that is now shouting from the roof tops that they did the correct thing by the country.

I was happy to see Aravinda taking responsibility for selecting Thirimanna. Well done! I agree with Ararvinda that Thirimanna is technically correct. But, it seems that he lacks the aggressive mindset for T20. Hope he will develop it soon.
