Few turn up for Sangakkara protest

Sri Lankan cricket fans demonstrate at Colombo's Independance Square on April 9, 2011, demanding that former skipper Kumar Sangakkara be taken back to lead the national team which lost the World Cup to India. A facebook event organised by the fans had some 6,500 fans signing up to attend, but less than 20 turned up. AFP PHOTO/ Lakruwan WANNIARACHCHI.

Dude! I'm always on FB and always love cricket and never even hear about this protest!!

If they were protesting against Dandeniya, DS De Silva, Nishantha Ranathunge and SLC then the whole island would have been here.

What are they protesting about? Sangakkara is getting old! He has to step down and set the way for a young captain for 2015 WC! Dont these people have brains? He was also stepping down as protest for the interference from SLC and president! Why cant these fools join sanga in protest without asking him to change his mind???

Umbaaaayyyyyyy!!! MEEE harak!

I agree with the comment above. Everyone is suggesting that the captain, vice captain and selectors stepped down as a protest because of the president and his family's interference and the bad management at Sri Lanka Cricket (DS, nishantha, etc). So these people should have joined Sangakkara's cause and protested against SLC without making Sangakkara's decision look silly.

Respect Sangakkara's decision and realise why he quit as captain before you start all these protest.

If they were protesting against SLC I would be there too!

When a player steps down, do you protest against his decision or protest against why he stepped down?

We call these behaviors as GON PARTS!!! In Sinhala Slang,,
while The country is suffering with many economical chaos, these jobless fools are striving to do something what they cannot change,
and this is the same stupid mentality some blind patriotic Sri Lankans had in 1948. They knew nothing about what is happening behind the screen and started making an exhibition of themselves.
Hail & become Advocate for others by forgetting what is important to the country. Moada harak Ralak.... Adum adagenada mewa karanne?

Hey merlin nd da guy above
We don't want a young captain.....We want a well experienced captain, rallied with with young talent to strengthen our batting.....perhaps it's da right time to get players from da U 19 team to da national squad targettin da nxt world cup....sanga nd mahela has to be mentors to take da youngsters forward....,

dre is a big requirment to fill da weak spots of Chamara silva, samarawera, nd kapugedara, nd top order

It may also be da right time to find our nxt young Sanath Jayasuriya

come on sanga .....Sri lanka cricket needs your support badly "WE NEED YOU BACK AS CAPTAIN"

Jeez's picture

SL has a lot of fans but not very smart ones.

Sangakkara will be 37 nearing 38 by the time the 2015 starts! And there has been a lot of interference from SLC and president in team selection matters!! Sanga cares about SL cricket and loves our country so he stepped down!
