@ SUDDAH :Nope, it is Samarasekera who is chatting with Ramanayake (friends since school). A former Sri Lankan hard hitting opener (in the eighties and early nineties).

Thanks. Athula Samarasekera?

Good to see Sri Lankan cricketers and past cricketers too now resident in Melbourne with its big Sri Lankan expatriate community at this event.

Yes about Mahela Jayaweardenas photo I think he is thinking about Sri Lanka cricket. The missed opportunities that they were so close to greatness under his captaincy yet so far. 2007 World Cup Sri Lanka could have won. 2011 World Cup Sri Lanka could have won and could have won the world t20 tournament this year Aug 2012 in Sri Lanka in front of their home fans. In all three occasions Sri Lanka blew it. Also he knows Sri lanka should be doing much better in test cricket against Australia. However they lost against a weaker Australia last year at home in Sri Lanka and should have drawn in Hobart last week.

Also given the cricketers they have should be performing much better at the MCG. The last six years should have been Sri Lanka's greatest moments, instead Sri Lanka has nothing to show for it. Now with two SL cricketing greats at the end of their marvelous careers. Mahela J and Kumar S.

One wonders what the future now holds for Sri Lankan cricket? Personally win, lose or draw I will always be supporting the Sri lankans. However one cannot be without a tinge of real sadness at what Sri Lanka could have achieved in One day, T20 and Test cricket in the period 2006 - 2012. Six years of missed opportunities for Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka a nation with a passion for cricket, which has united the country in the most positive way during and after the war deserves better.
