This Chandimal guy gets the crap from haters even if he visits a Temple!! FFS! How is he conning anyone? He's doing a good thing. Please don't hate. Please don't be Indian.

For the record, I don't think Chandi would make a good politician. :P He's still like a little kid and too naive, in a way - remember that (one of many) contract issues with SLC when Malinga said 'Wadak balagena yanawa manussayo yanna'? When journalists approached Chandi, he just simply said 'Api assang keruwa' when every other player was trying to keep from the media what they discussed at SLC. :P

Even on the field he's like a kid. So please, don't hate this selfless kid - he serves our country!

I think it's a bit harsh calling some of the photos we see here as staged PR tricks...often the are stolen/taken from a players (or friends/family) facebook, twitter, instagram or other social media and shared here rather than the player releasing it to papers or cricket sites.

delan92 - When they post photos to social media and make it public. Below the photo you have options to embed in any site. That is not stealing, it's sharing and yes it is a PR trick. Photo is not for family and friends when made public. Before you accuse people of stealing thank them for sharing.

Is permission asked from individuals to reproduce each photo on external sites?
There maybe retweet, share, embed buttons/links/options. I think if you look closely some reposting may violate privacy terms and conditions.
This photo is taken from Chandimal's official facebook page.
They do list the original author or photographer on here underneath these days to avoid any infringements.
If the photo was embedded as you say, as opposed to copied/saved and pasted/reposted here it would have come along with the original text word for word also.

Not every photo that appears on here is posted by the player themselves.
And given everyday normal people pose and post in the same way on their own accounts. How many people haven't taken photos with their families at temples or other religious sites, or posted selfies, or shots with gf/wife.

His page no doubt is run by a combo of himself and some other admin people.

I say not every picture is from the player themselves, because I have seen over years photos that I have taken and tagged someone I know (with their permission), a person that was obviously linked to SLC, and photos appear here. And they were not on public domain.
I have had random people also contact and ask if they can use or take pictures...which is preferred.

Some fans gets carried away and whinge about every little thing especially after the team loses or player performs badly. A player has to live their life outside of cricket.
