Deccan Chargers drop Vaas for Roach?

Chaminda Vaas has been left out of today's game against the Mumbai Indians despite being this season's third highest wicket taker.

At the start of the day Vaas was the 2010-IPL's second highest wicket taker being only behind Muralitharan who holds the top spot. However, after Rajasthan Royal's game against the Chennai Super kings, Shaun Tait has moved into second place ahead of Vaas by just one wicket.

Despite his success and his knack of giving the Chargers a great start with the ball, Vaas has been dropped for the express pace of West Indian Kemar Roach.

Gilshcrist opted for Fidel Edwards in 2009, whilst the experienced Vaas was side lined for much of the tournament. This year too one felt with the arrival of Roach both Australians, the captain Gilchrist and the coach Darren Lehmann, have proven to us that their infatuation with raw pace has overshadowed common sense.

19th over Roach went for 19 runs! The extra pace went for a few.

Problem for Chargers is that Vaas doesn't finish well either, but the fact that he has given them good starts is reason enough not to drop him.

I hope the Deccans loose all the matches they play without Vass :@ :@ and that Kemar Roach guy go over 20 runs per over in all his matches... :P

Vaas dropped again and ROach has gone for over 11 runs in his first two overs. Well done Gilly and Lehmenn! The IPL is not about giving all your international players a chance to play.

I guess that's it for young Roach for this IPL unless Vaas gets carted all over.
