Attention Mr. Chandika Haturusinghe: players who should be included in preliminary ODI squad for BAN tour

Poor players who should not be in the preliminary squad for ODI series

1. Chaturanga De Silva - Neither a bowler or a batsman. But regarded as an allrounder

2. Lakshan Sadakan - Very poor control over the bowl. Runs will leak.

3. Dinesh Chandimal - Slow SR. Test match performance should not be good enough to give a ODI spot again. We tested this few times but all times fail. He should go back to list A cricket and perform consistently to give ODI spot again.

4. Lahiru Gamage - Just mediocre 125 bowler is not suitable here.

Players who should have been in the preliminary squad instead of above players

1. Wanidu Hasaranga - Better player than his elder brother still even with 7 year gap. Scored a brilliant century in the ongoing domestic match today. Good fielder as well.

2. Dhananjaya De Silva- Very good player. Can bowl also well. How on earth Labrooy missing these players. The player who played a good test match innings and very good for ODI cricket also misses in 23 member squad. Only possible in SL !!!!!

3. Vikum Sanjaya Bandara - Good bowler than Lahiru Gamage. Better pace, better movement, Good yorker bowler.

4. Lasith Abuldeniya - Havent seen him. But he is in tremendous form in domestic cricket. Age is 21 very young good talent. If u want a left arm spinner include him.

MR CHANDIKA PLZ I ATELAST BELIEVED YOU WILL REMOVE THESE NON PERFORMING PLAYERS FROM SQUAD AND SELECT A BEST TEAM AFTER DISCUSSING WITH LABRROY. BUT SEEM THE FIRST TASK HAVENT DOME PROPERLY

Man very disappointed with your post pepole like you are appointed selector and SLC will be in hut grazing goats.
DINESH CHANDIMAL Best batsman of your test team you may agree or not but this is the truth and test cricket is not about throwing your bat in search of better strike rate otherwise Dikwella and Sadeera would be pelting down hundreds in test Cricket .
I BELIVE HE CAN BE YOUR 2nd BEST IN ODI ALSO (AFTER KUSAL MENDIS)

A preliminary squad is meant to have some players who you may not think will perform well. But Hathurusingha is organising a training programme for this squad which will help select those who are best performing. I disagree with your idea of removing Chandimal and Sandakan. I'm sure Chandimal will work hard on his ODI game to improve his strike rate. He also took part in a T10 league which I'm sure would have helped him in his striking ability. Sandakan definitely deserves a chance to gain experience. You cant expect to bring a new young bowler every match and expect them to perform. Wrist spinners are becoming quite important in the shorter formats as we've seen with Kuldeep yadav and yuzvendra chahal. When Sandakan plays more games I'm sure he will be more consistent with his bowling. I think Hasaranga wasnt selected because he is too young. He has time to play a couple more years of domestic cricket and come back as a better player. Its not good to break a youngsters confidence so early in international level. One player that I do agree should deserve a place is Vikum Sanjaya. I'm not sure why he wasnt in the t20 team because he has been in the t20 team for a few series now. He is only one of the few bowlers in SL who can swing the ball quite significantly.

Chandimal's average in 2016 is 59 and Strike Rate is 78, if batting coach is not able to increase his SR another 6 runs(upto 84) then whatis the point of having a batting coach...Graham Ford did the same to Sanga

I'm happy with both Chandimal and Sandakan in prelim squad. Would have liked to see Dhananjaya in there. Overall it's a reasonable squad for him to do his training/working sessions with

ok since it is preliminary squad it is ok if he can improve them and get into stage. But u have to include the mentioned players by me also. They may be better learners than the once once I mentioned to leave out. U need them also to teach and they are surely better once than others.

For example Wanidu got a century and a 5 wicket haul yesterday. Cleary a player for future and better than his brother. So why not including him also and see?????

Also Dhananjaya De Silva such a quality player. Why he is ignored yet again ??????

Wanidu taken 8 wickets for 26 runs in addition to his run a ball century so why not include him also ?

I read an article about how Hathurusinghe is correcting technical problems of Chandimal so he can generate more power and rotate the strike by hitting to vacant areas much freely. So I would say, Chandimal's inclusion might be justified in the near future if this go accordingly. As for Dananjaya, he is apperently injured, hence not in the squad. But both him and Malinga are to play the Independence trophy following this tournament. So things aren't looking so bleak. However, I would have loved to replace Thisara Perera for Wanindu Hasaranga as the all rounder, given that Bangladeshi wickets are known to be rank turners with minimal help for seamers.
