Sri Lanka best possible XI from the Official Squad-
1.   Niroshan Dickwella (Left-Hand Batsman)(Wicket-Keeper)
2.   Upul Tharanga (Left-Hand Batsman)
3.   Kusal Mendis (Vice-Captain)(Right-Hand Batsman)
4.   Kusal Perera (Left-Hand Batsman)
5.   Angelo Mathews  (Captain)(Right-Hand Batsman)
6.   Dhananjaya De Silva  (Right-Hand Batsman)(Right-Arm Off-Spin)
7.   Dasun Shanaka (Right-Hand Batsman)(Right-Arm Medium)
8.   Thisara Perera (Left-Hand Batsman)(Right-Arm Medium)
9.   Dilruwan Perera (Right-Hand Batsman)(Right-Arm Off-Spin)
10. Lasith Malinga (Right-Arm Fast)
11. Dushmantha Chameera (Right-Arm Fast)

Bench-
12. Akila Dananjaya (Left-Hand Batsman)(Right-Arm Off/Leg-Spin)(Likely to miss the First Round of Asia Cup)
13. Amila Aponso (Slow Left-Arm Orthodox)
14. Suranga Lakmal (Right-Arm Medium-Fast)
15. Kasun Rajitha (Right-Arm Fast-Medium)
16. Shehan Jayasuriya  (Left-Hand Batsman) (Right-Arm Off-Spin)

  • Considering that both Dasun Shanaka and Thisara Perera can bowl they kind of do Suranga Lakmal role in the team, therefore, it is logical to think to have some really fast pace bowlers considering both Bangladesh and Afghanistan will struggle against real pace of 140+. Suranga Lakmal should play when Sri Lanka go against India and Pakistan as they are more accustomed to that pace, therefore, a seam bowler like Lakmal will be more effective.

This mr. X is having a problem with U.Tharanga.

Tharanga will Play in Playing XI (either in Opening or Middle Order) And What on earth Chameera's records to play in Playing XI ??

Either of Gunathilaka or Dhananjaya will Play in Playing XI.

So..
1. Tharanga
2. Gunathilaka/Dhananjaya
3. K. Mandis
4. A. Methews
5. K. Perera
6. N.Dickwella
7. D. Shanaka
8. T. Perera
9. A. Aponsu
10. L. Malinga
11. S.Lakmal/K. Rajitha

I guarantee if Chameera plays he will have Econ of over 7 per over with 1 wicket.

Mr. X - As you so foolishly think, If the team is decided and the batting order is going to change according to a lean patch of individuals in the previous series, for each new series; the team SL would have made a world record by now for constantly swapping so many who have failed repeatedly in many series during past 18 months(K Mendis/Chandimal/Gunathilake/Sadeera/Kapugedera/Thisara).

In that series Vs SA, SL won the last 2 odis by putting up 300 runs, mainly due to the vital 50+ 1st wkt solid stands put up in less than 10 overs by opening pair Dikka & Upul. Without that upfront launching pad, SL would have never put up 300 or won those 2 odis. Besides, who will drop the most productive front order SL batsman (Tharanga) in past 18 months scored over thousand runs going at 50 average and 90+ strike rate, just because he failed in one series after so many consecutive productive series?

After all, we have only a few months remaining up to the WC. do u think that kind of swapping is logical?

I am not any one's fan but when you look at this kind too many of dumb ideas posting in these blogs, you can't really blame the UT fans for repeatedly posting blogs, polls etc to highlight his achievements.

when was the last time sl had 2 consecutive 50+ 1st wkt stands inside 10 overs ? I think since the same opening pair did that in 5 odi series played in SA, 18 months ago? (i think dickka was demoted to middle order after that and upul didn't have a proper partner to bat with him in his long innings)

#9 Cricexp-Breadman - That is only for you funny man and that doesn't mean everyone is in your boat. This kind of hate comments appearing everywhere in IC reveal who is really funny.

Mr.X, I see that you have completely edited your blog to reflect a more logical and realistic picture now. Good for you.
