I don't think Upul Tharanga is the right choice for the number 5 position in the ODI and given he is the captain of the team he should be the opener for the team. Therefore unfortunately Dhanushka Gunatilake has to wait a longer in order to get in to the team. Kusal Perera looked promising down the order in Champions thropy and i think we should give him a longer run in the ODI XI at that position.

1. Upul Tharanga (c)
2. Niroshan Dickwella (Wk)
3. Kusal Mendis
4. Lahiru Thirimanne
5. Angelo Mathews
6. Kusal Perera
7. Asela Gunaratne
8. Akila Dhananajaya
9. Suranga Lakmal
10.Vishwa Fernando
11.Nuwan Pradeep

12.Dhanushka Gunatilake
13.Dasun Shanaka
14.Dushmanth Chameera
15.Lakshan Sandakan

Having upul in the squad is the biggest drawback. He should never be in any team as far as I am concerned. He is depriving talented youngsters like Sadeera Samarawickrama, Lahiru Milantha, Minod Bhanuka or Charith Asalanka who are more suited to one day format with thier batting style. Furthermore Asalanka is a useful bowler. Players like Kusal Perera and Dasun Shanaka should be first to be picked in any one day squad.

Having 4 left hand specialist batsman is completely dangerous
