Angelo Mathews likely to be fit for the tri-series in Bangladesh, expected to play Sri Lanka's first match against Zimbabwe on 17th January. also, most likely to get ODI captaincy - reliable sources.Tweet from Daniel Alexander

  • Suranga Lakmal and Nuwan Pradeep have proven to not have any effect on flat wickets. So its time to move on and give the next generation a chance to prove themselves before the world cup and consider Suranaga Lakmal and Nuwan Pradeep as Test Bowlers. Also when Sri Lanka went with Experienced Bowlers it proved costly in the champions trophy where the bowlers went for 300+ and couldn`t even take 5-10 Wickets. So its time to get young players who can ball fast at 140+ with several Variations like Lahiru Kumara and Shehan Madushanka also to have a left-arm bowler would bring more variation to the bowling attack.
  • The Only Exception for an experienced fast-bowler to be considered for the world cup should be Lasith Malinga.

Sri Lankan Selectors have stated that they normally announce the squad 2 weeks before the departure to tour which is on 13th of January so ideally, they will announce the squad in the coming few days.

Although-

Hathurusingha, a former Sri Lanka batsman who quit as Bangladesh coach to help his home country, also signalled a tougher line with the government, which gets the final say in team affairs.
Jayasekera recently stopped the Sri Lankan T20 team from going to India because he did not agree with the selection.

The chief coach is not an automatic member of the selectors’ panel and Hathurusingha wants this changed — even if it means a new sports law.
"I need full control and responsibility to pick the playing eleven," Hathurusingha said.
"According to the sports law the coach can’t get involved in selections. They are considering my request to be a selector while being the coach," added the 49-year-old.
So when Sri Lanka has the Big Meeting on 6-7th of January 2018  Hathurusingha could become the tour selector and  Asanka Gurusinha will just be the Manger.

If sport law requires selection committee, make five vesak puppets, and SLC will be better off. Let Hathuru's judgment picks team for each event.

Dana is declared fit ,my ODI team is

1.Dickwella (give him BD series to see how stable is,recent form poor).

2.Danajaya De Silva (can be dependable with centuries in the Tests in difficult situations,he needs sometime in the ODIs to get form).

3.Kusal Perera

4.Mendis

5.Tharanga

6.Mathew/Chandimal( Chandimal just because of captaincy,he does not deserve a place really).

7.Asela

8.Madushanka

9.Vandersay

10.Chameera (did well in the last ODI)

11.Lahiru Kumara (Lakmal).

Anonymous your XI Bowling attack is the Issue as Bangladesh is still Sub-Continental Conditions I would still prefer 2 spinners also Dushmantha Chameera is Economical but he is not a Wicket-Taking bowler. He Struggles to dismiss Batsman, therefore, the more attacking option is Lakshan Sandakan who even thou could be expensive can take wickets.

Also, Kusal Perea is more of a middle-order batsman in ODIs when you have Kusal Mendis is the Batting order. Also even then since we have Asela, Tharanga, Chandimal, Mathew I would prefer to use Kusal Perea as a T20 batsman.
