5 Changes to the XI-

3 Debutants-
Jeffrey Vandersay, Asitha Fernando. Kasun Rajitha

Suranga Lakmal , Dilruwan Perera , Rangana Herath , Angelo Mathews , Lahiru Gamage

The Practice match has proved that Fast-bowler with more pace has more success in west indies, therefore, the two fastest bowlers should be selected for the 1st Test. Also, it was proven Experience players have failed therefore it worth giving the youngster a go. Players like Jeffrey Vandersay, Akila Dananaya, and Asitha Fernando bring in the X-Factors into the team that the current crop of experienced player can not and which is required in this conditions. Also, it`s been proven by the west indies and mostly wrist spinners and fast-bowler who bowl 140+ have the most effective wicket-taking abilities. I would go with the 5 batsmen, one all rounder and 5 bowler combination as the extra bowler did nothing in the first test but since our batting looks weaker than our bowling in this conditions.

12. Dilruwan Perera
13. Mahela Udawatte (Left-Hand Batsman)
14.  Suranga Lakmal (Right-Arm Medium-Fast)(130-135 kph)(Rested for the day/night test)
15. Danushka Gunathilaka (Left-Hand Batsman)
16. Rangana Herath (Left-Hand Batsman)(Left-Arm Orthodox)(Rested for the day/night test since finger spinners have more control with the pink ball than Wrist Spinners)
17. Dasun Shanaka (Right-Hand Batsman)(Right-Arm Medium)

Angelo Mathews (Withdraw from the tour due to Family reason) and Lahiru Gamage (Right-Arm Medium-Fast)(injured)

I too don't agree with resting anyone for the 3rd test, the series is lost if we lose this test so no point in resting anyone. If we hold our catches, we wouldn't be on the field for this long!

De Silva for Anji is an easy call and I reckon Asitha for Gamage. The more difficult call is do we drop KJP for Udawatte and my call lets not drop anyone for any reason after one test. Infact the full series should be a must to give a guy a chance.

I see there are calls for Dilruwan and I understand but this guy's record is second to none and he can impact with both bat and ball too. Ok he is not going to do it every test, especially if we keep dropping catches off him, so not convinced. However, if De Silva were to come in, he does offer some off spin which could warrant considering Akila as the second front line spinner but my call is rather play Akila in place of the 3rd seam option unless it's a green top.

Another change could be to push KJP down the order as you really need to be technically tight to open in test cricket and I am not sure KJP is there yet, and we have two guys who have opened in test cricket before.

Well you were close Mr X with 4 changes including the 2 spinners dropped rather than rested.
Let's hope the side can square the series here
