Sri Lanka are in a sorry state! Angelo Mathews has reportedly resigned as captain only weeks after Sri Lanka's head coach Graham Ford parted ways with Sri Lanka.

Angelo Mathews has stepped down as Sri Lanka captain in all three formats after his team's shocking ODI series defeat to Zimbabwe on Monday.

Who can take over? Which player plays in all three formats and has a secure place in the team in all formats? Which player should be appointed Sri Lanka captain? Should there be more than one captain, like a Test and ODI captain and a different T20 skipper?

What Sri Lanka needs is some controversy to trigger them like in 1996. At the moment their mentally very weak and have to much respect for the opposition. The SLC should back its players no matter what anybody says and need to build a team and a strong captain who will fight tooth and nail on the cricket field. They need a captain like Arjuna no nonsense type.

Huge blow for the team. On the bright side, it's the perfect opportunity for other players to step up and fill in.
