Yeah right! You wilted like a bunch of schoolboys and conceded 320 runs in less than 40 overs - shame on you! It looks like you're under obligation to your IPL pay masters every time you perform well below your capabilities against India.

Lasith Malinga - a yorker specialist?

Lasith Malinga ODI stats vs all teams

And what about that Lasith Malinga? His career stats against India suggests he should be dropped every time we play against them. With India known to be vulnerable against short bowling, and Malinga able to dish them out at 140 clicks, he didn't bowl any short balls against Kohli. People keep saying he is a good death bowler, a limited-over specialist but that's hardly the case in ODIs - look at his economy rate and strike rate. Maybe Malinga should retire from ODIs too and just play T20 cricket?

Mahela Jayawardene - what were you thinking when you kept going to your fast bowlers to curb the run flow when Rangana Herath bowled so economically?

It will probably rain on Friday and things will get very sticky for the Sri Lankans. Frankly, with everything that has been going on behind the scenes at SLC - the dud election and continued government interference - I would rather see Sri Lanka continuing to lose until the public is driven to large scale protests outside SLC.

Prior to the loss at Hobart, it was our batsmen who lost us matches. I'm glad to see the bowlers have joined the party! Jaya Wewa!

you're an idiot...just coz we lost one game you critizise our boys; Yes we are all upset that we lost, but what about all the time Malinga comes and bowls during the batting powerplay and pulls the game back for us; Just coz he has one/a couple bad games you guys want to put him down;

Yea, sorry but disagree. Malinga has been poor all series against both teams. Yesterday he just capitulated.

Not sure why this has to be such a huge surprise. We were taken for 300+ in 2 consecutive games in SA.

And I must have been watching another team cuz the batsmen have been pretty good this series and actually contributed to most of our wins.

The bowlers had an off day, India were unstoppable. These freak of nature days happen in SL cricket. Otherwise how do you explain a game like 438 or the 411 which we ended up losing.

India were bound to click one day and our bowlers who have been quite decent this series had an off day. Not the best combination.

Honestly what sort of fan would like to see use lose? Who cares about stupid politics if SL keep winning ? That is how it has been in the past in anycase.

I've been proud of this Sl side, we look like we are back to top form under Mahela. One off day and everyone is up in arms?

Remember 43 2 months ago ? Let the side settle. Bad days like this have been few and far between in Aus.

Hopefully we sneak into the Finals. Aus will defintiely want to play India over us cuz they know we are the only real team capable for uppping them in this series.

We had a really bad day. Period! These sort of things happen in cricket. India batted brilliantly and our bowlers were terrible on the day especially Malinga - a real drubbing.

I never imagined that India would gain a bonus point after we scored 320 but they did the impossible. Put it down to the glorious uncertainties of cricket. Thats the beauty of the game and sports in general.

Malinga has been lackluster the whole tournament and should be dropped for the next match. I just wonder if he's giving 100% for the team since IPL is around the corner.

Its not the end of the tournament yet. This team under Mahela is capable of bouncing back next match.

I'm quite pleased the way our team has performed so far in Australia, especially the youngsters: Chandimal and Thirimanne.

Our batting has finally clicked and bowling has been adequate to win matches barring yesterdays horror show.

We have nice blend of experience and youth and I think this team will take us far in the future. Add Shaminda Eranga - when fit - to the mix and we have a very good outfit capable of shocking most cricket pundits.

Re: Bowling short to Kohli, I think thats a comment made out of lack of knowledge. Kohli has been pulling really well all summer and that is a scoring option for him. The Tassies on the banks would have kept dropping them with glee.

If at all we should have bowled short to Raina - who is weak against the short stuff.

Eitherway..there is always ifs and buts. Just gotta look past last night and focus on Friday. We have the wood on Aus so hopefully we can bring it home and put India out. Which would be nice enough revenge.

Some people have 2 understand sometimes when you through caution to the wind everything can go your way and thats what happend to india on a good batting surface .....i think malinga could have boweld a boncer or two thats because i just dont like virat just hope the boys have a ripper of a game and get over the line against australia..

In the game before this one Chandimal dropped Kohli twice after Kohli top edge pull shots. He is not strong against short bowling. Malinga has a good bouncer but didnt bowl it. Mahelas field placing was also terrible.

@Neil Weerasekera, dont speake nonsense.. just b coz of one match Malinga should be dropped? then are u gonna bowlling on friday?..its obvious they didnt bowll well.. but throught the series they showed real improvement and still able to keep the whole series alive till the last match of round robin stage.othrwise mist od the time finalist are decide by 2-3 match before the 1st round end and remaining match becomes waste of time...
learn to appreciate what our team done so far in the series..sadly u look like foolish Indian fan...

SL will lose on friday. I think Mahela and the IPL click threw the last match just like the World Cup. Who wants a AUS vs SL Final? It's not cricket anymore, it's MONEY. Sponsors want a bigger TV audience like India with a population over a Billion.
I also think Mahela agreed to captain the team in order to stay in the team and move smoothly to IPL games.

India is using the IPL to influence cricketers from other countries. I do not blame them. They are trying to keep the Indian cricket going. IPL is exploting the weakness of people for money. It is the duty of the cricketers not to fall for this trap. But, When the DOLLAR BILLS are waving in front of you, the LION FLAG goes into the distant background.

The scenerios are as follows:
(1) India were brilliant is the first and obvious. Has happened before. WC final 07 (Gilly), 03 (Ponting), anyone recall Sana's great knocks.
(2) Malinga and co had a bad day - has happened before (1) 438 in SA (2) SL 411 loss.
(3) SL threw the game - ok I see the punches comming but as noted above these are scenerios. They havent got paid after all and how certain is the financial future.

Having said all of that the time has come for SL to stand up and be counted when it really matters. Something they havent done for the last year and this is an opportunity to turn that around.
