The Sacking of Mickey Arthur

Australia has gone with the obvious solution to their cricketing woes by sacking the coach. This has been done by many Countries in the past but the Australian situation warrants a closer look.

This is the first foreign coach ever recruited by Australian cricket for their national team. There were plenty of opportunities to sack him earlier, especially after the “homework” debacle of the Indian tour but why now? Is it that getting trashed in India doesn’t matter so much as losing the Ashes?

Why Darren Leahmann? He is the epitome of the hard drinking, swearing (as the Sri Lankan team well know), “Aussie Battler”. A true blue Aussie and everything that the bush Australian stands for! Australian Cricket has reverted to type.

All sophistication and computer analysis goes out of the window. Sledging and match analysis fuelled by Victoria Bitter comes straight in, along with Shane Warne I reckon.

This is an all or nothing last throw of the dice. I wonder what miracles Leahmann is supposed to perform having taken the job? He can’t even teach the team to use his favourite swear words but then he can, if Ravi Bopara plays!

If it all ends like it should and the Ashes remain at Lords....what of the new coach? I wonder if a fate similar to that of Bob Woolmer beckons!

Don't get the timing of sacking Arthur and surely it cannot be over losing 3 one dayers? A thorough thrashing by India would have been a better chance. Not sure about Lehman - think he needs to be given a chance to prove himself.

@silva, Darren Lehmann called Samuels a chucker during a press conference in Big Bash! :P

Micky Arthur never fit in that 'Aussie culture'.

and yes this should be posted under International Forums :)

@ravana, didn't forget it, but Silva asked about any diciplinary issues while he was a coach.

@silva, he questioned how Samuels bowls 128kph with a 3 feet run-up :D) so he meant Samuels chucks. i don't think he should ve done it as a coach, especially after his team lost the game :) He s done good as a coach, except for the 2nd stint with Deccan Chargers :P
and yeh he probably is the best person to restore the original OZ culture including calling players from teams ****s :D))))
knda feel like the new OZ is team like a bunch of choir boys?!!! #noattitude

Aussies never had a good coach but they always had good players to back it up. This team is in poor shape so they have no choice but to sack the coach. Lehman is ok kind !!! He got IPL trophy for DC and even now for Kings XI he done some good work.

anyways Oz coaching is not our business , we should not talk about it in IC.. we don't like when Indians come into this website and then talk about our cricket like wise we should not talk about Oz issues in IC . Thanks
