SA was going to be tough and was!

This was going to be a tough player and it proved to be a nightmare except of the rather unexpected t20 series win. Dickwella and Kumara were the finds of an otherwise forgetful tour. We don't want to get in to how bad and how bad but safe to say almost all were poor in the batting. There are two major concerns.

One is the inability to build an innings in all formats. Its like we are good for 20's but don't have the game to build a longer innings.

Second is the shot selection of supposedly top order batters. There have been totally appalling shots by all batters gifting wickets all through the series.

Third is the search for aggression. Its like we have this idea that hitting a couple of boundaries is the main objective of the innings.

This is not a new thing and has been an issue for a while. Even in the Aus series, we were in all sorts of trouble in all 3 tests due to the points noted above but luckily we had a few miracle innings to get us out of trouble.

I also thought we underplayed Kumara on wickets that are best suited to him. Why were we keeping a tear away pace man on the bench and why wasn't he given the new ball.

Finally I presume Chameera is injured again after playing one test which is awfully disappointing as he could be a vital part of our future but looks like he is going down the SL fast bowlers path - plagued by injury.

After the meaningless 3 game t20 against Aus we have to play Bangladesh who are no longer what they were. More importantly, we are all over the show and probably are at our most vulnerable. Bangladesh on the other hand have a number of experienced batters backed up by decent spinners and pace attack. If we keep playing like we have been, lets hope Bangladesh also play equally or worse!
