That was awesome!

That was simply sensational and never in my wildest dream did I expect us to beat India, let alone chase down 320+. Finally some real batting mettle shown by the boys and everyone got in and made an an impact. Glad to see Mendis play such a calm mature knock after copping some unfair criticism from some of us on this forum.

My first react was India should have got 350+ with the start they got but for the third game in a row out bowlers put up a really good show to hold things up. What was scary about the chase was how calm and calculated the guys were. The stand of 150 between Mendis and Gunathilike was sensational and a breath of fresh air. I thought Kusal Perera played key role at #4 and highlights why we cannot continue to play Chandi in this vital spot (not when 300+ is the go). Another vital knock was Asela who had a brilliant game with both bat and ball. His knock just blew India away when the probably thought there was a chance. His stroke play was also brilliant.

Well we could not have wished for a better option than playing Pakistan in a quarter final. The worry is the Cardiff wicket probably suits them better and they just found some form and as always, their bowling is potent. I am happy with this batting line up and I would actually get rid of Chandi for Kapu to make it a really potent (on paper) line up. The things with this plan is if it works we will be competitive. The issue with Chandi (and Tharanga) is that even if it works we are still probably looking at 300 max.

It must be said Tharanga deserves a fair go after being messed about for years and now making some runs but Chandi must go.
