Expected but disappointing.

India got the script and played the perfect plan. Win the toss, get 600 and drive home the advantage. Losing to the number one team was never in doubt but the manner of the defeat leaves a lot of questions. For the 4th innings in a row SL have failed to produce a century at home while the visiting teams have produced one every innings (when was the last time that happened? We are now unable to get a look in to a test with the batting which was always our fall back. The bowling, now totally toothless (except for Herath in the right conditions) will never give us a look in on both fronts. Add to that the fielding and yes, I don't have to tell you we have issues.

Besides so much of the talent we supposedly have, there are some really alarming signs out there. Mathews played two really poor shots in both innings which is most unusual. With a batter down, the call of the day was for one of his back to the all knocks which he did in the first innings but when it was time to get excited he played a really poor shot - almost like he is not with us. The review by Karunarathne in the first innings was also very poor. For two senior playes in the middle to get it so wrong is just plain worrying.

So with the all the so called talent we have, the replacement for Dislthan, Gunathileke, averages 31 in SL conditions! Sure number don't say it all but looking at the two shocking shots he played on debut one can understand why he averages 31 in first class cricket. What is scary if that he is the best we have to replace Chandi!!!
