I had some time to watch the Pakistan vs Oz test series and was rather shocked at the decline of Pakistan cricket that I witnessed. The first innings batting display was very much below par for a test team and if our boys had batted like that the fans would have been howling.

Afridi's captaincy was horrible to say the least and he gave far too many runs to the Aussie tail- enders. Poor field setting giving away easy singles and bowling that poor chap Umar Gul for at least 3 overs more than he should have. Not bringing Kaneria on when Hilfenhaus was just in and in fact not bowling himself when he should have.

I wonder what is happening ? When we whinge and moan at our team and rant at our highly paid foreign coaches etc, they seem to be doing much much better than the Pakistani counterparts. Local coaches may not be the answer for teams in the sub continent. Maybe because the culture dictates that they bring their "connections" and assorted baggage with them. This proves detrimental in the long run.

It really seems a pity with so much talent and no one able to harness it.
