I Would like to know who you would like to see play in all formats for the series with Bangladesh.

With certain players failing like Karunaratne, Chandimal, Mendis, Dhananjaya, and the possible returns of others like Gunathilaka, Mathews, Pradeep, Prasad. What combination of players do you think is best for each format? For test matches, i think Karunaratne will be dropped and try Dickwella because he has grown in confidence in the other formats. I would like to see Silva dropped for someone new but it seems unlikely. Chandimal will probably come back but if he fails, i am more than happy to see Gunaratne take the number 4 slot.

Because it is spin friendly conditions, i think its best to have Sandakan, Herath, and Pushpakumara all play. It will be good to see how Pushpakumara plays which may decide when Herath retires Niroshan Dickwella Kaushal Silva/new player(any suggestion?) Kusal Mendis Dinesh Chandimal Angelo Mathews Asela Gunaratne Dhananjaya / Dilruwan Malinda Pushpakumara Lakshan Sandakan Lahiru Kumara Suranga Lakmal

Dimuth got himself dropped by

Dimuth got himself dropped by two zeroes in the A game. Bring Chandragupta (according to how he does in the next A game) or Weerakkody for his place. Keep Silva at present.Keep Chandi only in Tests & see his form. Asela should play definitely. Rest Herath but if he wants to play for match fitness, can't deny him. Look at Pushpakura leaving Dilruwan out. Give rest to Kumara & Lakmal & try Chameera, Asitha F'do, Vikum etc.

This is a big tour.

Folks Bangladesh are not what they were and we are not what we were and this is a big tour for both teams. Even on the point table, Bangladesh is not too many points behind us so we need to put in a proper performance.

As for who should play all three formats - well surely its Asela but does he fit in to the test team. He does have a hundred against Zim recently. Mendis is another as is Anji.

Gunaratne does show that he

Gunaratne does show that he has the temperament to play a long innings. He doesnt look like someone who will get out by LBW or edges. He will play very well alongside Mathews in the middle order.
Our main problem in test matches is our top order. I just cannot see Karunaratne and Silva being in the team anymore. Mendis should continue to bat at 3. I reckon he will perform well back in sri lankan conditions and arguably weaker bowling from Bangladesh compared to what the aussies had when they toured SL. Same goes for Dhananjaya de Silva who will most likely after Gunaratne. I have no idea what kind of players SLC are thinking of putting as our openers, but i hope they do make a change because it is definitely our biggest weakness.

Middle order

Agree with Suren1998,

We saw many times that mathews stranded without a partner from middle order . When it comes to batting i think Sri Lanka have many alternatives for the top order at the moment .Batting point of view what Sri Lanka really lacks is a proper middle order batsman. All the players what we have experimented in middle order recently are the ones who generally playing at top4 .So may be they struggle when handling the low order since that is not there natural batting position. Asela is a middle order batsman by trade so i think its worth to give him that position which will reduce the burden on mathews.

Sri Lanka Test Squad against

Sri Lanka Test Squad against Bangladesh

1. U Tharanga
2. R Chandraguptha
3. K Mendis
4. A Gunaratne
5. A Mathews (c)
6. D de Silva
7. D Chandimal (wk)
8. MDK Perera
9. R Herath
10. S Lakmal
11. N Pradeep

12. L Kumara
13. L Sandakan
14. PM Pushpakumara
15. N Dickwella
16. L Milantha
17. MDUS Jayasundera

D Chandimal and D de Silva will be given final chance in the first test against Bangladesh. If they fail to perform, they need to be dropped. We need to give few chances to Tharanga to open the innings and wait and see how he will be performing.

I dont think Jayasundera is

I dont think Jayasundera is in a good enough form at the moment. He didnt perform against England lion in his first innings and his second was a very slow 60 odd runs. I think a better option would be Sadeera Samarawickrama. He has performed extremely well in club cricket and as been promoted to the A team recently. Other than that your squad is great. I hope the real squad will be similar.

Proposed Test Squad

Proposed Test Squad:

1) Upul Tharanga
2) Kaushal Silva
3) Kusal Mendis
4) Asela Gunaratne
5) Dhananjaya de Silva
6) Sadeera Samarawickrama (wk)
7) Dasun Shanaka
8) Dilruwan Perera
9) Rangana Herath (C)
10)Suranga Lakmal
11)Lahiru Kumara
Others: Nuwan Pradeep, Vishwa Fernando, Tharindu Kaushal, Sandun Weerakkody

Since Mathews is not available for Test, it would be better to have a fast bowling all-rounder like Dasun Shanaka in the team. Since Kaushal Silva has played well in SL, one more opportunity can be given to him in SL conditions.

SL BP XI

Hi everyone this is Munazir from Bangladesh. Hoping that this is going to be an exciting series. We have been waiting for this since 2015.

Anyway any idea about the SL Board XI team? Seems that most players barring Chaminda and one or two are from the Sri Lankan under-19 squad for the 2016 WC.
Cheers

Yeah the SL board XI team has

Yeah the SL board XI team has a lot of youngsters because the Sri lankan A team is also playing at the same time. But i think its good that the young players get this exposure against an international team.
