Munazir , Thanks for share

Munazir ,

Thanks for share the ideas what bangladesh think about us .

Spin is both two teams main weapon .however recently sri lanka managed to develop crop of decent fast bowling attack . Infact sri lankan pacers did well overall in south africa . I saw bit of over estimate about mustafizur who has the potential yet less experienced, like taskin ahmed , while sri lanka does have proven bowling attack to some extent across the all the conditions .

Bangladesh does improved lot .but what is bangladesh's real weakness is they believe based on some stats of their star players too much an put too much weight put on those players while sri lanka like to put an team effort like they did against aussies.

So the bottom line is

Overconfident statistically experienced outfit or outfit which put more weight on team effort

HitmanFirst of all thank you

Hitman

First of all thank you for spending time reading it.I acknowledge your points fully.

There is no doubt that Bangladesh's pace attack, as talented as we think they are, lack experience no doubt. Mustafiz has just bowled in 1 test innings while Taskin, Subhasish Roy debuted in 2017.

Sri Lanka has a much more experienced pace attack in that respect. Lakmal has plenty while Kumara is new but was impressive as you said. Infact I was pretty impressed with him and Eranga the last time they played Bangladesh. But somehow Lakmal hasn't improved as much as his potential.

This is the first time Bangladesh (have the belief) that they can compete session to session with a major test playing nation overseas. This is why the article might seem a bit too optimistic to you.

The batting stats show that Bangladesh have an edge here with several proven players while SL maybe relying too much on the experience of Chandimal.

If Bangladesh win this it will be as big as SL's New Zealand tour in 1995 when SriLankan pacers had very little experience and Murali was pretty young too.

Let me be clear that whatever I wrote based on my analysis of current stats and personal opinion. This has nothing to do with what our players think.

Personally I would be happy if they can draw the series and a win will be an amazing achievement. I wouldn't be extremely surprised if they lose but they better show some fight before they do.

Even Alexander Fernando of cricinfo sees plenty of potential. It will be one of the few overseas series where the tigers seem to have a decent chance is all i see.

Lakmal not improved lot

Lakmal not improved lot mainly due to he had some injury concern after 2014 bangladesh tour so he lose few series .As we all know once you injured then coming back to the form will get tougher ,which is what happened to him . But recent SA tour he posed a strong threat against SA so he is in good form . plus our main striker pacer Dhammika prasad is also recovering from his surgery so may be he too in mind of selectors . If he declared fit may be he could play 2nd test which could strengthen our pacer attack .

Talk about batting wise its not good to think that chandimal is the only experienced batter in the side .aussies did the same blunder by targetting mathews but it was batters other than mathews hurt aussies lot .

Finally i wont say bangladesh doesnt have potential .They are good side like others . But what i saw from cricinfo some of bangladesh fans who already in different world .

Never mind .lets enjoy the game.

Ultra defensive Chandimal

As expected Kusal Mendis & Asela batted brilliantly and got Sri Lanka into a good position in this match. Asela deserves a hundred, but unfortunate. Asela should have come at #4, not #5. Hope he will come at #4 from next inning onwards.

As expected Chandimal's poor form continues. Just 5 runs from 54 balls (9 overs). Can a player be this much defensive? One of our most experienced batsman in the current test team was completely stuck in the middle. Don't know what is the point of his experience. New comers like Kusal & Asela easily found the ways to score runs at a rate.

SL ahead but work still to do

Good toss to win and brave (and correct) move by SL to play 5 bowlers including 3 spinners. Bangladesh strangely picked 3 seamers and not sure why! I know Galle has been a happy hunting grounds for some pace man but surely their strength is spin. Luck was also on our side when Kusal got a no-ball going his way but how brilliant was he after. He was good up to tea but after he was sensational. Asela looked as good as he has done in all forms of cricket over the last few month but awfully poor cricket but the senior 3. Tharanga got a good ball but poor defense cost him while the other two played plain poor shots (how many times did we say that during the SA tour). Chandi stone walled and then threw caution to the wind!

It's a good score but not a winning score yet and the last two batters are and one of these two need to bat a lot longer to get us in to a strong position. Looks like a old fashioned Galle wicket where things will start to happen later and its critical to make it count now when conditions are good for batting. This is not a 400 wicket but win the toss and 500+ wicket and we are still a long way from that.

Clinical win

That was a polished show by the lads and I must say I expected much more from Bangladesh. While SL were good on all fronts Bangladesh were really poor on all fronts resulting in an easy win. The wicket wasn't a traditional Galle track but got slower and dead and with rain around I expected them to put up a fight but they were done in the first hour, all over the floor in a total mess.

Credit to SL who had all bases covered from day one. Big runs when it was required and wickets to keep Bangladesh in check. Both teams dropped catches (when is this going to end?) but SL spinners far more potent. Couple of performances worth noting. Yes Mendis and Herath the stars but Tharanga has surely secured the opening spot for a while and Dickwella the wicket keeper #7 batting spot. Gunaratne continues to impress and an important wicket and will be interesting to see what happens when Anji returns. The other performance was Dilruwan with 5 wickets and a critical 50 when it counted. This guy kind of flies under the radar but keeps putting up decent performances.

Bangladesh have shown some real quality in recent times and should be awfully disappointed with this performance. Next game at Sara and not sure what the wicket is like but its traditionally a result wicket which brings the pace men in to the game. Wander if SL will consider playing the extra batter as the wicket is more responsive to the bowlers and could require an extra batter and if they play De Silva, he can bowl too.

Things are tricky here 149/5.

Things are tricky here 149/5. Not so sure why we decided to bat first here . Could have bat second . Atleast we need 200+ for the first ininngs from here.

Dickwella not a test material

Not so sure Dickwella is a test material. What kind of shot was that ? What he was expected from that shot ? True he do have his own game but he should have answer to the present situation.
