This test could be Mahela's last game as skipper in SL and Dilshan's last test in SL. should Mahela lead SL till the 2015 world cup? should Dilshan continue to play tests? pick your XI for the 2nd test.

yeh thanx for pointing those

yeh thanx for pointing those out dude, according to rumours it cud well be Dilshan's last test match on home soil and yes probably the right time too; he scored centuries vs Pak and Eng and now 36yrs old, going out on a high!!! Mahela as captain,,,,,,, may be. He said he'd consider after the Aus tour right?

Still have my doubts over Mathews as test captain right now,,,,but he definitely stable enough to be captain of ODI and T20I teams and perfect test captain in a year of time. If Mathews is made the test captain right now(after the Aus tour), then we, fans and selectors alike have to be patient with him, just like South Africa was when they appointed Graeme Smith captain in 2003 at the age of 23.

Wud like to see Karunaratne open with Dilshan, to see how he reacts to different situations before the Aus tour. We already know wat Para's strengths and weaknesses are, and it's better to give Welagedara a game in place of Randiv; since PSS assists seamers more than spinners.

2nd Test

No worries :), Yea will be good to leave on a high (if he decides to retire from tests), the fate of Ponting & Sachin should not happen to Dilshan. Mahela should lead SL in the '15 WC for me.

SL should give

SL should give Para/Dimuth pair one more match and rest Dilshan. Kulasekara too can be rested and Welegedara given a match. All you need for an SL win is decent contributions from everyone, NZ dont look like challenging SL unless the SL batsman decide to do so.

Is it?

Sad to hear that Dilshan is quitting, but its ok since there is no room for new players in the team. Chandimal, Thirimanne & Karunarathne waiting for long time now and this will give an opportunity for one of them.
Do you guys think that something similar to Atapattus's retirement will happen on his last match? Will he give a punch to all who pulled his leg?

@CGI, don't think Dilshan wud

@CGI, don't think Dilshan wud reveal anything(if he retires from tests after Aus tour), he'll wait until he retires from all forms of cricket to do that :D

btw whoever it was moved the 2nd test from SSA to PSS, it's a good move as it will help SL batsman adjust to Aus pitches by playing on a seaming PSS pitch. Wudn't mind if SL play 3 seamers either.

Yeah, MJ did say he would

Yeah, MJ did say he would captain until the end of the year. Did Dilshan confirm that he is quitting? Where did the news originate from? Does anyone know?

From Sunday Times, "However

From Sunday Times,

"However it is interesting to see if former skipper T.M. Dilshan, who has gone on record saying that he intends to retire from Test cricket probably after Sri Lanka’s Test against New Zealand in November, would also be placed on a partial contract like Lasith Malinga."
