@Surod what if all those

@Surod what if all those national team players foreign clubs get qualified into CLT20 ? then there will be no one to play lol .. so that's not the solution for this problem .. including 2-4 foreign players is the only solution they have for this issue .

If less profitable board like

If a less profitable board like SLRFU can organize Carlton 7s one of the world most highly profiled tournaments with best rugby players in the world ,i don't see why SLC cannot organize a same kind of a event with all those international connections? if I'm not wrong that's the first ever NBA kind of a 7s tournament in the world with a players draft system as well.

but how they managed to do it? Carlton 7s have a pretty simple concept

Have 2 legs .. one for the local and another small 4 day leg with the international players so you don't need to spend whole lots of money on them.. and pick an overall champion , less expensive but highly effective.

& I'm sure SLC can attract lots of international sponsors than SLRFU if they adapt this concept . so money won't be an issue for them

Two options

@SLCricket1 But in your option also they foreign players can go for lucrative team than playing for our team in CLT20.

Yeah they both are options and hope board will at least try one in the next year. Very disappointed to see what happen to the SLPL after only one year. Even as you said less profitable cricket board such as WICB and BCB also holding better T20 leagues than Sri Lanka cricket. Carribean premier league is major success. And I have often seen even Zimbabwe cricket t20 tournament also going globe through ten sports even those teams do not have the foreign players.

@Surod nope that won't be a

@Surod nope that won't be a big issues cause take a look at tridents they lost malik to hurricain & they manged to replace him with munaweera which is not a member of their original pool . . so you always have a good replacement option if an international player pick another team . but tridents can't replace pollard the local player with an international player . now that's a big lose .

SLPL please

Agree with SLCricket1. If SLRFU organizes Carlton super 7 gloriously, SLC also should be able to organize the SLPL tournament again at least with 5 teams.
If SLC can't do it, at least they should organize the super fours tournament properly. First thing is players should be divided fairly among the 4 teams. Next teams should be given more matches (preferably 6 matches per one team in the 1st round) by putting them into play two times against each other. By that we can select strongest and in-form team for the CLT20.
Last super 4 tournament was the worst tournament ever (rain affected too) and suddenly weaker Southern Express team came to final and won.

Options in theory but not practical

SLCricket1 what u said is true but what I said was also can be done in the same way. Think we name a squad of 15 comprising all Sri Lankan players. If some of them who will regular in the playing 11 choose foreign teams we can substitute them with not regular players in the playing 11 such as Chandimal, Thirimanne, Kithuruwan (It is very less likely that more than 3 players will be selected for foreign teams in a year)

- PLEASE NOTE THAT I DON'T SEE THESE KIND OF THINGS IMPLEMENTED TO WIN A CLT20 ALTHOUGH IT WILL COST LESS AMOUNT FOR BOARD THAT IS THE REASON I PUT THE HEADING AS OPTIONS IN THEORY AND NOT PRACTICAL :D :D

SLcricket and R Peterson as you said we definitely need a competitive tournament involving foreign players

Yes, You are correct

Yes, You are correct Uppercut compare to that date winning a CLT can't take a value of even 1/100 but we need to pick suitable solution for this too. This is the same thing that is repeating for the 6th consecutive year and not the 1st time :)

@Heavy Roller Are u seriously don't know u must be joking isn't it ? One of the 2 dates that every Sri Lankan cricket fan must remember. It is the winning date of T20 WC :D

@Surod in your example unless

@Surod in your example unless Chandimal, Thirimanne, Kithuruwan did not play in that SL domestic tournament you can't replace them with another team .. one player can't play for two teams of the same tournament .
