My Squad for the England series

PLAYING XI

1. Kusal Janith Perera
2. Thilakarathne Dilshan
3. Kumar Sangakkara
4. Mahela Jaywardena
5. Anjelo Mathews
6. Lahiru Thirimanne
7. Thisara Perera
8. Farveez Maharoof
9. Nuwan Kulasekara
10. Sachitra Senanayake ( Subject to action clearance )

Other squad members

12. Chamara Kapugedara
13. Dinesh Chandimal / Ashan Priyanjan

This is the strongest Sri Lankan team that we can possibly field for the world cup ( Please note Malinga is not been included here since he is unavailable ). Hope every one agrees with me.

My squad

Dinithi Your squad also good and I like that boy Lakshan Rangika as he looks like a mystery spinner. But the only problem is he is inexperience going for a major tournament.

Please selectors give attention to my squad as it is the best one available at the moment and I hope they will give the chances and see for Kapugedara and Maharoof how they grab their chances just before the world cup.

My opinion Chandimal is a better batsman than Priyanjan at the moment also considering his experience but Priyanjan can bowl some useful spin bowling that is why I included either one of them to be selected. Apart from that Kithuruwan also a good player but the problem is he is inexperienced going for the world cup hence Kithuruwan's name has not been included.

lakmal or eranga in for

lakmal or eranga in for malinga & KJP in for upul ,other than that i don't see much of a change happening to the winning squad . & i also like to See SLC using herath only for the world ODI events and test cricket .

I know SLCricket1

I know SLCricket1 one of the hardest things is to change a winning combination and include players who haven't played international cricket for some time. But I hope selectors are brave enough to give some chances and see about Kapugedara and Maharoof.

Kapu is in good form during the on going Mercantile Premier league tournament and I thoroughly believe this is the best squad Sri Lanka can field for the 2015 world cup with the inclusion of Mali for one of the seamers position.

A few matches need to be

A few matches need to be shofted to Dambulla. It's going to be rainy days here plus we need conditions close to Australia as much as possible. For God's sake we are preparing for a world cup! We saw there was good amount of extra bounce at Dambulla when SL played with Pakistan. We need that sorta exciting cricket. Not the dust bowl we see at Hambantota.

WC prep

With the WC in mind I would 'rest' Herath from this series and give someone else a chance to get some exposure. I would also play both Prasad and Eranga. Also agree with some of the comments above that we need play on decent tracks - little point beating England on dustbowls as prep for the WC in Aus.

Yes, Herath need to

Agree with Stormy. It would be better, if Herath is rested from this series or using Herath just for first 4 ODIs. Need to save Herath for the WC, because he is the strike bowler for SL at the moment. His performance will be crucial for SL even in Australian / New Zealand pitches.
Prasad showed some form recently, so he is the ideal man to fill the vacancy of Malinga.

Sri Lankan pool for the world cup

This is the pool of 25 members that I'm interested in currently. I don't see any other player apart from this squad getting in to the SL squad currently. What are your views and is there any other player are u interested apart from this pool for the wc.

Batsman (9)

Kusal
Dilshan
Sangakkara
Mahela
Lahiru
Chandimal
Tharanga
Kithuruwan
Kapugedara

All rounders (5)

Anjelo
Thisara
Maharoof
Priyanjan
Jeewan

Fast bowlers (6)

Lasith
Kulasekera
Prasad
Lakmal
Eranga
Welagedara

Spin Bowlers (5)

Herath
Sachitra
Seekuge
Ajantha
Suraj

So we need to asses these players performance leading up to and during Eng tour. If possible SL should look to secure the series at the end of the 4th match and try little bit experiment with remaining 3 games.
