This is the ideal 11 against

This is the ideal 11 against SA,

1.Thirimanne
2.Dilshan
3.Sangakkara
4.Mahela
5.Mathews
6.Kusal
7.Kulasekera
8.Koushal(he should be in the squad instead of Sachithra or Seekuge)
9.Herath
10.Malinga
11.Chameera

This is the ideal combination to depend even 250. Koushal & Chameera can bring the X factor....

Injuries

Another player injured, this time its the skipper. What's going on? This injury debacle has got to stop. We can't afford to lose any more players to injuries. Just when things were starting to look positive, we lose half our side to injuries.

Injuries

Cricket Australia mentioned that Mathews was suffering a sore Achilles tendon and might be out of the WC.

Another comprehensive win!

Another game, another win, another great 2nd wicket Sanga/Dilly special. No comment on Sanga and Dilly other than awesome. Good team selection to play the 3 that played and the 6 batters and 4 bowlers option. I assume Lakmal will play and we were testing all other bowling options for the QF.

I thought there was a bit too much wild swinging after Sanga got out. Not worried too much about Mahela but wanted Anji, Kusal and Thisera to spend more time in the middle. Despite Kusal giving it away too early this is exactly what I wanted to see from him - big hitting down the order. This is certainly the way forward as opposed to having the options we have had all summer (including Jeewan, Dimuth and Upul).

Kula showed little but looks way past his best - there was just no zip, which is what he was all about at less than 130KMH. Chammera showed some pace and promise but little else but must be pointed out, on a dead wicket. I thought Malinga was better against Aus than today.

Biggest issue is more injury concerns. Anji was off the field, yes as a precautionery measure but still a concern. Also Dilshan was receiving treatement on the field and these are key guys. There is simpy no way forward without the big players and Hearaths stitches are still not out and were supposed to be already out. Just need to nail the next game folks!

Poor tharanga - The unloved 12th man

Being on the cusp of the playing XI is never fun but Sri Lanka took 12th man Upul Tharanga's misery to new levels when they refused to partake of the drinks he was running on to the field. There was moisture in the air in the first phase of Scotland's innings and, in their quest to rush through 20 overs and ensure a full game was played, Sri Lanka had spinners operating at either end. When the umpires called for drinks after the 17th over, Tharanga dutifully jogged his tray on to the field. But Sri Lanka didn't want to slow the game down. None of the fielders moved from their positions. Unneeded twice over in this match, Tharanga was left to wander off dolefully, occasionally glancing back to see if anyone had had a change of heart.
