not a pretty looking

not a pretty looking scorecard for SL in the warmups .so thiri is the only player was able to hit a six in the chase of 200 . other batter need to improve their S/R better than this if we want to defend this WC . and take a look at this

what an unlucky bowler this lakmal is , his figures always get screwed up by our fielders . fielding has always been a worry and still it haunting us it seems . cannot worry much about bowling figures , since our top bowlers did not bowled in this game & rightly so , i hope that they will not bowl in the next practice game as well . But why didn't mili ball ? that's shocking . he is a good bowler we need to use him .

First up against the Afgans is a potential banana skin!

Just seen the Afgans brush aside Zim and apparently we play them first and they are decent team. Their bowling attack is certaintly up there with quality seamers and spinners and this will be a tough game and they have been playing in India for a while. There is a Pakistan flavor to this team with a stronger bowling attack than batting and win the toss and bat first is important. They also have some experienced players and remember the fright they gave us in the 50 over WC and will be looking to get one over us.

Wished the Afga game came a bit later...... On the other hand they will also be keen to win thinking that SL is the best chance and will be under preassure...... Malinga will be eager to play and to start his recovery rest for the IPL.

No need to think too deep

No need to think too deep into the Afg Zim game. Zims are very crappy and currenty under our own discarded coaching!

What we can learn from New Zealand win over India.

First of all they have selected a team that suits to Indian conditions. Nathan Macullum, Shodi, Shantner. Who we have selected is aging Herath, and Senanayaka who has no ability to take wickets. No wicket taking spinner at all. When the team fails failed guys should be removed but hilarious thing is our selectors removed the guys who didn't play at all instead of failed guys. Second thing is New Zealand team management decision to play three spinners. Would this happen with Sri Lanka? No. They want their buddies in the team no matter what the situation required. Third point is how to put pressure in the middle and get wickets. If it was Mathews even if we could take 3-4 wickets in power play still game over for Sri Lanka letting them score against ineffective all rounders at the middle without trying to take wickets with effective bowlers. 4th point is their commitment. All of the New Zealand guys committed to what they came for.
Who knows most favorites teams to win the even might go down Like India did and Underdogs like Sri Lanka ( can't even call as an underdog at this point unfortunately) Might come good at the right time. That's the hope.

That was a major upset

Just goes to show what t20 is all about, no one would have bet on anyone beating India at home let alone in the opening game. There is still hope for us folks... Interesting point is NZ despite all the pace option went out with a spin attack. Kind of obvious option and we should do the same with what we have.

Yes!!! We have an over

Yes!!! We have an over reliance on out mediocre pacers!!! Go back to what works for us - spin! Choke them and wickets will come!

Bring on the good times

Good show and had that game under control all the way. Dilshan is back just to remind us exactly what he is all about. Finally all important runs at the top of the order and nice to see Kapu being sent up the order and Thisera being 'floated' around as suggested by many in this forum. This is the easy game and I thought the Afghans put up a good show. They had some decent bowlers too but let them selves with poor fielding as did we. Anji showed some form to hold up his end. Well positive signs form the first game which is all we can ask for.
