Should not have dropped Mendis or De Silva

Here we go again. "lets build a players confidence by leaving him at home" we are told by the selectors. The reality is this is the same old joke of selectors messing around with youngsters. The reality is we should have never dropped De Silva in the first place. Yet we did and even ended up playing Danushka Gunathileke in a test match in between and now De Silva is back. But hey why not destroy another youngster in the meantime and wait for him to come around....Just like we did with Thirimane!!

What is the plan?

Lets face it - India have this covered by a country mile. What's more even SL teams with the stars of the past have got hammered in India time and again. Murali and Herath have done little or nothing in India, as a matter of fact neither has anyone else. We have lost 8 out of 11 games by an innings - how is that even possible? If that's not bad enough, India have all bases covered. Their pace bowling unit will probably see Sharma on the bench and he is no mug. Their spin attack is diverse and have 2 of in the top 5. Finally, they will probably have to leave out Rohith Sharma and KL Rahul! So what is our plan?

Its the same always I guess. First we need runs on the board. Without runs we are not in the game regardless of what they get. It's time for Anji to stand up and be counted, it really is. He has done nothing for too long and as the most experienced player in the team he really needs to stabilize the batting. Looking to Chandi and Dimuth to add some muscle to the batting and if Thiri ever wants to do anything, this is a good time.

We may have to play 3 seamers in the 1st test as we are told the pitch is green. There is a lesson here for SL too from India. They have taken it upon themselves to prepare seam friendly wickets in an attempt to improve their game.

We need to put up a better show that we did at home.

We competed but India were too good in the end

Was a great test match and competing against India in India is as good as a win! In the end thanks for the rain for change. We did have our moments after winning the all important test and having India 50/5. Next we were 200/4. Two critical moments when the time had come to take control of the game and we simply blew it. It's also important to recognize India were simply too good to give in which is why they are the number 1 team and almost impossible to beat at home.

Happy the guys fought and competed, its all one could ask for and if the other side is good enough to win or draw, that is fine.

What about the Indian tracks? The BCCI on the ball and lesson for SLC to wake up and prepare conditions that will make us compete overseas.

Another Indian disaster!

Well folks that was pathetic and where does one start. Lets start with this morning, test to save, wicket still flat and our best and experienced #3 and #4 played two of the worst cricket shots ever played in test cricket! I think it sums up where SL is at. These are the spots occupied by Sanga and Mahela and Gura and Ara and here we are. It is no longer acceptable for Thiri and Anji to keep batting the way they are, especially when we left our next big hope, Mendis at home. How do we expect Mendis to play responsibly when these two are batting like kids.

This test was so disappointing, from the time we won the toss and elected to bat. We fold for 205 on a beautiful batting wicket that the opponents declare for 600+ with 4 centurions. Don't want to criticize a young kid but anyone saw Sadeera's shot selection for the first ball of the second innings? We can forgive Sadeera but anyone say Thiri's choice to save a test? How about Anji? We were a joke folks and we would be lucky to get another full tour of India and even if we do, there is a fair chance they will play a second string side.

To win a test match

In test cricket Good batting and Fielding allows you stay at the game competitively and laid the foundation for go for a win or draw .Good bowling allows you to win a test match .If you look at india i dont think they will win test series in ENG,AUS,NZ,SA how ever they might draw some test matches like they done historically well thanks to their batting Where as pakistan has more victories in those countries thanks to their bowling prowess. Sri Lanka doesnt have neither of these disciplines at best which is why we are losing .

India is a good team but they are not the best hence i think they are the worst no 1 test team i ever saw coz they keep maintain this rank by keep beating the opposition at favourable conditions . They are not doing these all antics when they tour abroad. And i believe this SL team can beat India only if they batted 2 days and pile something around 500by bating first .dont expect india prepare another greentop after the way they wobbled in Calcutta

The selectors have some hard

The selectors have some hard decisions make for the next test match.

Sadeera has been given the whole series and have shown glimpses of his capability. Roshane Silva has taken the one opportunity he was given with a responsible knock. Kusal Mendis also knocking on the door one of these guys are going to miss out.

On the fast bowling Lahiru kumara has regained his rhythm. We could see him instead of lahuru gamage.

Even thought we were beaten badly by India there starting show the signs of a good team.
