This series is the perfect opportunity to play younger and new players.

It is a perfect opportunity

It is a perfect opportunity to get the out of form players like Thisara , Seekuge, Dimuth, Kaushal, etc into form again.. and get failed again in SA :P

Rest Mathews & Chandimal who both are recovering from injuries & need a good rest rather than rushing them into the team. Include new young ones Avishka, Asalanka, Milantha from batting & Asitha ,Lahiru & any other promising bowler. No to, tested & failed ones again.

Is Chameera fit again? His injury occurred in May (I believe) so hopefully he has recovered because I think they said it would take around four months to recover. If he has, he should play in the tri-series so he can work up to bowling for the SA tests (we will definitely need him there). Starc did it this year, though the downtime between that triseries and the SL series was a bit longer.
But this is definitely the tour to experiment a bit and try out new players before the SA series. NZ didn't experiment at all (instead using it for match practice to get players into form) and they were still soundly beaten.

Guys, when are we going to

Guys, when are we going to stop the experiment? IMO, what ever the batting lineup that planned to play in SA should play against Zimbabwe and build the confidence and play at least one series as a one complete unit. The only change I see in the test batting squad is Dhanajya replace Dimuth and may be Roshen play at no 7. Other than that the batting unit looks solid, lets say we rest Angi and Chandi and give a chance to a youngster and he play back to back 50s against Zimbabwe, so are we going to replace Angi or Chandi in SA tour because of the performance shown by young lad against Zimbabwe? Both Chandi and Anji has never played against Zimbabwe why do they need to rest this tour?

We can try new bowling option till Prasad and Chameera fully recovered.

How many players will Sanath

How many players will Sanath try in this tournament? More than 16 players tried in the recent Limited Overs series against Australia. Playing musical chairs with selections and Angelo is a spineless captain who will do anything Sanath and Thilanga orders.

Time to stabilize

We need to stabilize the team and don't really have the luxury of resting players. Our batting order needs some runs and what exactly will be the bowing unit. The batters are probably the same at the 3rd test V Aus but they need match time ahead of SA but the bowling is an issue. We need to Chameera and Pradeep fit for SA. We should also consider the element of surprise with someone like Sandakhan V SA in tests. Not the place trying tests with spinner but our fast bowling stocks are thin.

Wonder if Dhana has made a point to open in tests as well which would open up a batting slot down the order for Roshen or Siriwardena.
