If mankading was wrong then about not recalling a batsman who was blatantly not out ? Herath had his hand off the bat when the ball struck his hand and he was "caught" behind the wicket.

The English team new quick enough that he was not out. Also Reiffel the umpire actually gave him out.

Why is there no talk of this ?

mankading vs Herath

Hi Ravana - mankading is wrong. No one has come up and said its right. hence the law states clearly. Heraths incedent is a totally different issue. The ball hit his glove and then he walked to the dressing room. If he decided to ask for a review he would have given not out. Umpires make mistakes and thats why the DRS is there. I think you have mixed your arguments here... these two topics dont make any sence together.

They only use the 'spirit of

They only use the 'spirit of cricket' excuse when it benefits them. Mankading is a legitimate dismissal but all they could come up with was it 'wasn't in the spirit' (though many warnings were given over TWO MATCHES!) and it just 'looks ugly'!! Here, Herath wasn't even out. Remember Marvan Atapattu calling Andrew Symmonds back?

Plus, the British media created too much drama about it to get viewers for the Test series and to create a distraction from Cook's sh**tiness in LOIs!

Coincidentally, Stuart Broad was the one bowling when Herath WALKED! :D :D :D

Herath's wicket wasn't a wicket and what about Pradeep's? THANK GOODNESS FOR DRS.

Whatever the result of this series, the Umpires should be recognised for their hardwork in trying to gift wins to England, throughout the tour. Well done, Umpires - you did what you were paid for but Sri Lanka were too good. LOL

People over use the term

People over use the term "Spirit of Cricket". It's all nonsense.
If you play within the rules it is within teh spirit of the game. Giving warnings to someone trying to steal a quick, cheap runs is an even more generous spirit.

In terms of Herath decision, this is where I wish ICC would modify the DRS so that when the TV umpire and/or match ref sees a decision that is clearly not right they quickly instruct ob-field umpires to overturn it
