What happened on Kuruppu

I think Kuruppu only played a few test for SL but managed a double hundred in those few but never played again. Not sure if he stopped playing cricket or just couldn't get in the team. Hard to think how a double centurion at that time couldn't find a place.

Interestingly India's Karun Nair (I think that's his name) a triple centurion cant find a spot in the current Indian team.

Ya, you are right; he just

Ya, you are right; he just played in 4 Tests. Interestingly, he is the only SL player to score a double ton on debut. In fact, his 201* is the highest score by a WK on Test debut.

Call it fate or his inconsistency with the bat, he had a very short Test career. In his debut Test, despite frequent rain interruptions he managed to score a double ton. But, to his utter bad luck, the rest of the series (2 Tests) was canceled owing to security fears as a bomb exploded near the Kiwi Team's hotel. However, the knock did cement his place in the ODI side for some time, but his inconsistency with the bat saw him being replaced by Hashan Tillakaratne.

Wonder had the Kiwi tour not got canceled, how his career might have panned out...Even his ODI debut against Aus was marred by rain as SL didn't get to bat.

Nair, unfortunately, is playing in the times when India is dealing with the problem of plenty...hopefully, his time will come soon.
