Suresh Raina flew home from Sri Lanka and landed straight into trouble at home, thanks to his tweet on Thursday night that he later deleted and the next day clarified as being posted by his nephew.

The controversy finds its roots in the tweet posted by Raina's verified Twitter account, which ridiculed Pakistan after they lost to Sri Lanka in the World Twenty20 semi-final on Thursday. "Ek do din late gaye ghar !!!! Woh bhi besharam ki tarah Gaye... Bye bye Pakistan!!!!" it read.

The users of the microblogging site, especially those who follow Raina on twitter, were quick to condemn the comment as unbecoming of a national cricketer. That prompted Raina to delete the tweet soon after.

The next morning Raina came up with a clarification tweet, attributing it to the smart phones and his nephew. "Smart phones r dangerous. Discovered it last night after my nephew posted random tweets. I'm a sportsman and would never disrespect," he tweeted, adding, "Though I already deleted it, I felt its better to clarify. To all those who r upset, I'm sorry. I'm not one to show disrespect."

But people questioned the truth behind that excuse and some even poked fun at the limited-overs specialist and his 'nephew', to the extent that it gave birth to the spoof account @raina_nephew.

he might have

he might have learnt it from his captain, Dhoni - has an excuse for everything.
And anyone knowing hindi/urdu would understand that in saying 'Ek do din late gaye ghar !!!!', Raina himself tweeted this and not his nephew.

This is the main reason why a lot of high profile celebrities use their publicist or social media manager to handle all their social media profiles.

@ Hilal

@ Hilal : Raina is a kind of a guys who down plays publicity. Even when he linked with a popular actress he totally down plays it. May be careless use of smart phone.

@Hilal yes a lot celebs do

@Hilal yes a lot celebs do let their publicists handle it, but for me that is not the real 'deal' if that happens. I wud rather have real me messing up on twitter than very politicaly correct tweets all the time. :)

it translates

it translates as 'went home one-two days later!!!!!! that too in a shameless manner'.
why would his nephew have to write something as 'went home one-two days later'?
