Umpire Rauf played a deeper role in spot-fixing

The involvement of tainted Pakistani international umpire Asad Rauf in last season’s IPL spot-fixing imbroglio was deeper than previously imagined, a report by journalist Ed Hawkins posted on his blog HawkEyeSpy has revealed.

Drawing from a Mumbai police report, Hawkins writes that Rauf used the same intermediary for betting – Vindoo Dara Singh – as was used by Chennai Super Kings team principal Gurunath Meiyappan, and placed wagers on matches he was officiating in.
