Police have confirmed they have charged Graeme Swann, the England offspinner, with drink driving.

Swann, who is England's current Player of the Year, was stopped in the West Bridgford area of Nottingham on April 2 and a spokeswomen said the charge had been brought last month.

''Graeme Swann, 31, of West Bridgford, was charged on 8 June 2010 with driving a motor vehicle when alcohol level was above the limit," a statement said.

He is due to appear before magistrates on August 16 in Nottingham, two days before England take on Pakistan in the third Test at The Oval.
