World test championship a saviour

It's fascinating what brings some people together. England and India may have been hurling the crockery at each other for the past 12 months, but on one issue they at least agree: they want no part of a world test championship, whether or not it's designed for the greater good.

Among their opposition is almost certainly New Zealand Cricket, which will have another chance to argue in favour of the WTC at the upcoming International Cricket Council meeting in Perth. As one of a handful of members often treated disgracefully under the previous playing programme, it should need no reminder of the dangers of sticking with the status quo.
