Kumar SangakkaraJune 21, 2011 (Island Cricket): Stand-in skipper Kumar Sangakkara was fined 40 percent of his match fee, while others in the Sri Lankan team were fined 20 percent for maintaining a slow over-rate in the third Test against England at the Rose Bowl in Southampton.

Sri Lanka were two overs short of the required number, and Alan Hurst of the Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Match Referees imposed the fines, the International Cricket Council (ICC) said in a statement.

"In accordance with ICC Code of Conduct regulations governing minor over-rate offences, players are fined 10 per cent of their match fees for every over their side fails to bowl in the allotted time, with the captain fined double that amount," the ICC said.

Sri Lanka accepted the penalty without contest.
