Sri Lanka unhappy with Saeed Ajmal's action

Saeed AjmalSri Lanka have reportedly complained to match referee David Boon about Pakistan spinner Saeed Ajmal's bowling action during the first Test at Galle.

"If this is not brought under control now, where will it all end? Ajmal is getting away with blue murder and nobody’s taking any action," Sri Lanka's The Nation newspaper quoted an unnamed former Sri Lankan player as saying, while highlighting the displeasure in the Sri Lankan camp.

Ajmal, who is considered one of the best spinners in the game, has been previously cleared by the ICC for having a suspect action. The 34-year-old was the leading wicket taker in Test cricket last year.

However, several former and current players have reportedly complained that Ajmal throws the ball and exceeds the allowed 15 degree limit.

In February this year, Ajmal drew more controversy over his action when he told the BBC that the ICC had permitted him 23.5 degrees.

"I don't know about my bowling action but somebody was telling me your action is bad. ICC has allowed me 23.5 because my arm is not good because of an accident, that is why a problem," Ajmal said at the time.

Pakistan's cricket officials quickly dismissed Ajmal's remark as a misunderstanding and said Ajmal was referring to "elbow abduction" and not the extension of his elbow.

"Ajmal was referring to the angle of elbow abduction (i.e. the angle of the upper arm to the forearm) and not the degree of elbow extension. This angle is approximately 23 degrees in Ajmal's case," the Pakistan board said.

In 2009, Ajmal was reported for a suspect action during a series against Australia. The ICC's experts on the issue helped clear the spinner by recommending remedial action after testing him.

"There is no dispensation for anyone," the ICC said earlier this year, denying that the international governing body of cricket was being lenient when it came to Ajmal.

This is said to be the second occasion Sri Lanka have expressed their displeasure to the match referee over Ajmal's action.

look who is complaining. The biggest chucker of all was Srilankan. Shane Warne million times better than Muralitharan.

Muthiah Muralitharan despite all the negative publicity and accusations he received during his career about his bowling action rarely bowled in long sleeves.

Come on Ajmal, show us you're clean!

the least place where you'd expect to hear a bowling action related complain.

Murali is not a chucker, when he bends his arm his arm isn't straight it is bent so when he balls it is bent and it looks like he is chucking however its his wrist that flick not the elbow. Murali rarely wore long sleeves so respect for him but Ajmal is trying to hide it so he is trying to hide that he is chucking, this isn't how cricket is meant to be played.

Ajmal has been cleared by the ICC, Murali was cleared too,so there shouldnt be any room for doubt.
One interesting question though would be if these Sri Lankans have a problem with Ajmal's action merely by looking at his action through the naked eye, why didnt they have a problem with Murali's? Because lets be fair, both appear as though they are throwing but have been cleared by the ICC.So I think it should be left at that.

@sulaimaan Why ajmal allways try to hide his arm with long sleeves.(including training sessions)

murali is the only controversial bowler who bowled with short arm t-shirt , because he knows that he's not chucking ,nothing to hide, but all the other controversial bowlers sachithra ,ajmal, botha & harbajan bowl with long sleeves t-shirts on.. have something to hide buddy ?
