20 Years on: When Sri Lanka scaled cricket's Everest

It was time to rejoice, in the most cherished moment of Sri Lankan cricket. For a beautiful island devastated by an ongoing conflict, ‘Cricket’ was an answer. For a nation hampered by violence and political tension, the battle between the bat and the ball was a reason to unite.

I still remember that day watching on TV. I was sitting on the couch and screaming my head off being an annoyance to my neighbors who were English and Southeast Asians. Still turning up to work as ZOMBIE. Congratulated by South African and English colleagues as I played for Srilanka. But as expected colleagues from our neighbors couldn't digest our greatest achievement, not a single word said except to remind me if Flemming held on to the catch outcome would have been different. Being typical Indian!!!
