That was one of the most pathetic displays of Test captaincy you will see.
Maybe he was brain had frozen with the cold weather but he stood there and put the fielders on boundary and screwed his bowlers and his team!

Angelo was surprisingly a bit more positive at Leeds and there was hope he had corner a corner slightly but this was appalling especially with the tail in.

Clearly he has not learnt anything from mistakes of the past.
It not easy with such a inexperienced side in foreign conditions but he needs to lead from the front and be more inspiring. Perhaps he needs to chat to someone like Allan Border and look at some tapes. Border was in a similar situation being the only decent player in an inexperienced lineup where at one stage he had played more tests than the other 10 combined. But at least AB tried to do something even if it took time and they ultimately went down. He led from the front with bat, ball and in field and didn't just stand their like a lame duck and put fielders on boundary and gift the opposition the game.

Questionable is not the right word. Disgraceful is more like it.

Losing is one thing, but not trying or giving up is far worse!

I think we all have talked about his captaincy previously and unsurprisingly it happens again and again. He simply lacks the common sense. He said he will going to play fearless cricket, didn't know hidden meaning of fearless is shameless . Bowlers did a fair job but it was captains and fielders fault. I wonder what Mr. Gram Ford thinking now. May be he is thinking "What have I done" and might regret his decision for sure. This team will never learn. Need a new crop of players.

if Mathews stays as captain for 2 more years SL cricket is finished by then, uninspiring captain and never show positive body language, matches are win or loose right their, your captain need to be a fighter and motivator if your team to perform. we need someone with brain and willing to fight as captain, unfortunately i dont see anyone in the current team. i dont even know there is one in our domestic circuit as well, time to drop those non performers and start fresh, Chandimal, Silva, Thirimanne doesnt have techniques to handle test class bowling (even mathews technique is flowed), i am not surprise if our selectors keep presetting with them though, because they are not better than those players
