As usual, this writer Rex Clementine praises his buddy, reappointed skipper Mathews as the sole odi match-winner in the side. When was the last time Mathews won a match for SL is the question to be asked from this useless writer?

Also, as in most instances he is totally blind to the repeated failures of almost all other much-hyped SL Odi regular batters (K Mendis, Chandimal, Danushka, Sadeera, Etc) who doomed many series for more than 18 months now.

But Clementine was so prompt to pick Tharanga's first lean patch seen in SA series for the first time after 2 years of immaculate productivity maintained continuously... & implying that many had expected Tharanga(Most productive front order SL Odi batter in past 2yrs 41.27 Average - solitary star in pitch black odi sky over SL))to be dropped from Asia Cup.! This is the logic/view of some blind hollow-headed fools in the city...certainly by peeping to one of their ears, the day light could be clearly seen through the other ear! :)

Tharanga produced his career best productivity last year becoming one of the only 3 odi batters topped 1000 runs in the world in 2017. Scoring 1000+ runs from 25 ings - 48 average - 93 sr is not easy cake!

He is the most experienced front order batter in the country & in his ever best form of a decade long career. UT had scored ample international runs in both formats for SL since Jan 2016 (2,010 @ 40 Av -100x4- 50x12 from 60 ings - in Test +Odis up to recent SA Odi series) and Topped batting records in recent Domestic 2018 Super-4 leagues(500 @ 50 Av- 3 x100-2x50 from 10 ings FC +List A / SLC T20 League - 414 @ 104 Av - 171 SR). Currently, this is the BEST overall batting record. Tharanga's batting form is in a way-above orbit compared with all other SL players, in consistency, productivity, firepower & assertiveness!

Clementine is totally blind to; Regular complimentary spots granted, city cronies in Team SL. This is how they were granted continuous regular spots without scoring even bare minimum runs (performance merit) in recent past: 1) Mathews (Test 28 Av in his last 37 innings since 2016) 2) Chandimal (ODis 23 av/ 61 SR since 2017) 3) KJP (Tests 27 av since 2016 ) 4) Danushka G (odi Av 30/ Test 25 Av/ 30 FC av) 5) Kusal Mendis - 18 Av / last 10 odis - 27 av - in 2017).!

But these kind of dumb critics have no comments on such shameful.

Ohhh I see lot of numbers there but Upul Tharanga has won only one Man Of The match award in last 3 years and his current ODI rank is 45. Why don't they see your numbers, he should be the no 1 player in the world ..

Hey girlish Cricexp.!
Tharanga's current ICC ranking is 43. Before his rare lean patch in recent times in SA series, his ranking was 36 in Dec 2017.

Before that 3+ yrs long axing started in 2013, UT's ICC Odi batting Rankings varied between 19 to 37. During the 3yrs long 2013-16 forced wipe off seen in his career, with occasionally given solitary odis & demotion in batting order up to No9 ... cruel selector's/ Mathews made sure UT's ICC ranking drastically dropped to 100 (WORST ranking ever seen in his career) at the end of 2016.

After Regaining his regular opening spot to play consecutive matches from Jan 2017 up to 2018 SA series, UT's ICC rankings jumped up from 100 to 36 (64 notches up.!!) recording the highest ICC Rank improvement seen for any player in odis during the period with his 1k+ runs @ 48 av. if he had allowed to play continuously in the 3 yr period before that, no need to say where his ranking would have been today with that 2017 performances, going up from regularly maintained 30s (up to that axing), instead of 100th spot to start with in 2017!

I have already knocked out your MoM award stupid question in a different thread - read it again you nitpicking loser:))
