Chronology of a cricket disaster

Twenty months into their first term, they have achieved little in respect of their promises of good governance, transparency and, more importantly, improvement of the game. Sri Lanka are now one of the lowest ranked teams among ICC full members across all three formats. They even face the threat...

The current problem started way before 2016.
Not having a proper competitive 1st class cricket structure is the main problem.
1) The rookies who graduated to the international scene are not mentally prepared to cope with the pressures.
2) Every time we tour a pace friendly country we try to "master" how to bowl in such conditions in 1-2 wks. Seriously that is the best technique we can have??
3) When the administrators don't have any clear structured plan to run cricket. Most who appear in the controlling board are past cricketers and they get elected every time with majority vote. News flash, if no one qualified to do the job runs and they are discourage to do so, no matter how many elections we have or how many sports ministers we change the outcome will be the same. There are qualifications called "sports management" degrees in the world and any graduate from those programs will have a better planning skills than any of the goons at SLC.
The problem is our culture, we always think the popular person is the most qualified!!!
That is the mistake is democracy.
Go ahead, feel free to comment that my views are nuts. That itself is a very popular view in sri lanka.
SLC need a proper educationally qualifies management team who's #1 priority is to achieve set goals.
We need sports psychologist so badly. Think of the 2007 era when the same team achieved greater heights in a very short period under tom moody. I can go on and on what is needed to be done but whats the point.

Agreed with the comments above and may I add, the current situation was predicted by fans on this blog way back but nothing was done. What's more nothing continues to be done to improve the local first class structure. The time for change has come and gone. Now its time to rebuild which is a very different proposition but what ever we call it, its yet to start and its already too late!
